My dealer offered to do the job for about $1,000 so I bought the part online and did it myself, saving about $800. There are a few threads here on the topic.

What year is your F-type?

Are these door handle mechanisms on the newest F-types the exact same setup as on older cars? I’m just asking, as it seems a few people now with the newest variant of the F-type have reported these sorts of issues with the door handles. It’s kinda curious.

When you did it yourself, was it pretty easy getting the door panels off and on?

I think I’d probably try and take it on myself as well if I ever ended up having the issue. Anything that can keep me away from the dealer I’m there for it ;-o

Mine's a 2016. The general operation of the door lock and motor is the same throughout the model run but there have been incremental improvements (unannounced, undocumented) in the part over the years. It's not a hard DIY job (See my previous posts).

 

Here is a really good video to get the panels off. Do be careful when removing the little triangular piece on the door lock side. The plastic is fragile and the clips break off. IT's a $50 part.. If you don't have one of those sets of plastic auto trim removal tools, it's a good investment and needed for this operation.
