Default Help!

Car stated to blow white smoke and engine amber light came on. Was at about 6000rpm. Started to miss but might have been limp home mode. Light didn't flash but stayed on. Running rough in short distance to home but never shut down. Manual says emission problem engine/trans. I pulled over at first and shut down. Engine started right up but condition remained. Any insight would help, not on any warranty over 8 years but only 27k miles.

White smoke is generally associated with water in the combustion chamber. Possibly a blown head gasket?

A dealer would probably just bill you for an engine change ....

Difficult call, after all post I've seen here about dealers I would say private but specialized in jags.

I go only to the dealer for maintenance to be registered history online, all rest elsewhere or myself.

Yes, recently was told by a client about a $10,000 plus job quoted by JLR dealer for an out of warranty LR which ended up being less than half of that elsewhere.

No Jag specialist in Vegas but this European shop is highly thought of, I'm going to over and talk to them first.
