Default Help wanted: No USB functionality (InControl Touch Pro)

Hi all! I have a '2020 F-Type with the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system (10" touchscreen). The 2 USB ports in the center console now appear to be completely dead / non-functional, although they used to work as recently as yesterday for a USB drive of music and Android Auto via cable and/or wireless Android Auto adapter. The backlight around the USB ports is on, but nothing plugged into either of the ports seems to get any power or be usable by the car.

Does anyone have any experience with anything like this, and can anyone recommend some troubleshooting or potential repair steps? Naively, is there a fuse for those USB ports or anything like that?

For additional context, I usually have a Motorola MA1 wireless Android Auto adapter plugged into one USB port and a USB "thumb" drive plugged into the other USB port, and pretty much exclusively use Android Auto for infotainment. I do occasionally have issues where the Jaguar infotainment seems to "crash" and my Android Auto connection dies and won't reconnect. Usually, when this happens, I use the (terrible) built-in navigation and music from my USB "thumb" drive to get home. Also, usually when one of these "crashes" happens, turning the car off, waiting long enough for the system to completely power off, then starting everything back up again resolves the issues. Yesterday, however, I was out and about, and Android Auto seemed to "crash", but then sort of kept "boot-looping" where it would connect, then crash, then connect, then crash again, etc. This happened probably 10 times until Android Auto stopped trying to reconnect. I tried to switch over to playing music from my music USB, and that worked for a few of those boot-loops, but eventually wouldn't play, either. I was driving, so I just listened to the exhaust note for the rest of the way home instead of doing any troubleshooting. Today, though, I did some troubleshooting. I fired up the car, and Android Auto wouldn't connect. I looked at the Motorola MA1 light, and it showed booting status, then connecting/connected for a few seconds, then booting status again. I pulled out the MA1 and my music USB drive and plugged in my phone directly to one of those ports via a cable, and Android Auto launched right up. I initially assumed the issue was the adapter, since these adapters are known for going bad and exhibiting that behavior, so I turned off the car and went inside, but I was able to plug the adapter into a normal USB charger elsewhere and it fired right up and stayed in the connecting/connected stage, which indicates it's actually fine (plugging into a USB charger is a normal troubleshooting step, apparently). So, I went back out, fired up the car again, and plugged in the adapter, but this time there were no lights, no nothing, so I plugged in my phone again directly via cable and nothing happened (no Android Auto, and the phone didn't even show that it was charging), so I then pulled that back out and plugged in my music USB, but that didn't register in the infotainment as a valid music source. Put simply, those USB drives in the center console seem to be completely dead.

Thanks in advance for the ideas/suggestions!

(P.S. Extra points if anyone can tell be how to "reboot" (not factory reset, just restart without losing any data) the Jag infotainment, since it bugs out and crashes in various ways pretty regularly, and it'd be nice to just reboot it and go on with my day)

Fuse #20 in the rear box, a 10A, for the media panel. The lighting is a separate thing so it can have a blown fuse and still illuminate the ports.

I don't think the IMC systems have a soft reset via the power button like the later PIVI systems, I've only ever reset them via the scan tool or allowing the car to fully shut down (locked until the hazard switch light goes out).

Also those media panels do go bad from time to time, might be worth getting a replacement to plug in and test if your fuse is good. There are a few versions, make sure the numbers match up to what you have in the car. Can be removed and replaced with no programming or anything like that.

Special thanks to RoverJoe for the info!

To close the loop on this thread, the issue turned out to be that confounded Motorola MA1 adapter going bad, after all, and the "dead" media panel resolved itself by the next time I used the car.

In case anyone cares about all the details, I checked the fuse and it was still good, and then hopped in the car for a final sanity check, started it, and plugged in my phone via the cable, and Android Auto loaded right up. So, I ordered a new Motorola MA1 dongle, and when it arrived, I plugged it in, connected to it, and Android Auto has been working wirelessly, without issue, since then. So, while my old, broken dongle would power up and stay on when connected to a power source, something about being plugged in to the car was enough to reveal it's issues.

Glad you got it sorted. As a policy, our cars do not play well with any sort of aftermarket equipment, it's always the first step we have to go through is making sure there's NOTHING in the car that isn't supposed to be there, or you will end up chasing all sorts of stupid issues that don't make sense. I'm a tuner and modify all of my cars usually, and it drives me crazy how sensitive these cars are to anything, even very minor. I've become good at pushing a very OEM level of integration on things now, I put together a fully plug and play subwoofer setup for my work car, because I can't tap into or modify anything as it's not mine. Makes it a fun challenge to find all the parts you need, but rewarding when it works out well.
