High (damaging) RPM At Start Up
Now that I've owned my F Type for one week, I have noticed that the engine revs fairly high at start up.
As much as I enjoy the sound of the tuned exhaust, I have two problems with this design feature.
(1) There are situations when I would prefer a less dramatic start up. Said another way, sometimes I just don't want the attention.
(2) When a vehicle has been sitting for a period of time, the oil drains back to the pan. At start up oil takes a few seconds to properly circulate and lubricate. Higher RPM at start up can cause premature wear from the momentary lack of proper lubrication.
Just my thoughts...

And the second act is even better!
Well, my neighbors know when I come home at 4 AM after closing down the clubs, and I know when he goes to work in the morning at 6 AM with his super loud Mustang.
We're both car guys, and it's no problem.
Having issues with the exhaust is like moving next to the airport, then complaining about the airplanes.

I think the factory was trying to replicate a vintage high performance feel with this. Add this to the cramped interior, poor sight lines, lack of storage, etc. Not sure it all works for me but on the whole, the car does feel special.
Guys, this has been a trick on a lot of non-US manufactured performance cars since the 90's. Heck, my old 1993 Mazda RX7 had it as well (called AWS, Accelerated Warmup System). An early rev and little higher RPM for a few seconds help warm up the catalytic converters to aid with emissions testing.

To stop it from revving like that on start up, with your foot OFF the brake, hit the start button. It should be like turning on only the accessories. Then put foot on brake and hit the start button like you normally do to start the car.
Agreed. There is no way to stop it. Just stop resisting, give yourself over to it and start enjoying the experience.
iF you dont like the attention you get both when looking at the Ftype and listening to it....Then maybe should have gotten a lessor car
Too me its like having a beautifull wife and then complaining about all the EXTRAS she requires........

I seem to recall one occasion where I experienced that when playing with the car shortly after delivery. I rarely do this, but I think if you re-start the car within a few minutes after shutting it down, that sometimes happens. I don't think it has anything to do with hitting the start button first with your foot off the brake.
When that theory was advanced here some time back, I tried it numerous times on a cold start, and it never made a difference.
