High (damaging) RPM At Start Up
Whatever 'new' car we have, we always start the car and wait for it to idle down.. the Silverado, the 2018 Corvette, the 2013 Golf and the 2017 F. It was explained to me by a VW tech that letting it idle down allows all the bits and pieces, the various engine mgmt systems, all to check with each other to make sure all is ok. My 2017 V6 F seems to rev high at startup from cold, but then settles down. I also NEVER go full speed right away. We live at the end of a dead end road, 15-25 mph, then out to a county road, 45 mph. Then, by the time I get to either a 55 mph road, or the onramp for interstate, I would have to believe everything is lubed up and ready for action. My 2013 gas 2.5L manual trans Golf just got his oil report (Liqui-moly at 91,000 miles) from Blackstone and they were very pleased with the results, no wear, no particles, no water/AF evidenced. IMO no good can come from mashing the pedal on a cold car.
