Default High engine temp message with yellow warning flashes a few minutes after cold start

Hi! So my 2016 V6 base seems to randomly display high engine temperature warning.

- It has 33.800 miles
- Water pump is new (replaced with plastic hoses for aluminum ones)
- It always happens 10-15 minutes after a cold start, never seen it in any other situation
- Always happens right after overtaking or demanding the engine for a few seconds
- Sometimes it shows up for half a second and goes away, sometimes for 2 seconds, sometimes never shows up
- Water temp always remains in the middle (after it gets there from cold ofc)
- Once it goes away, it will never show again even if you drive the whole day, drive hard, or move slowly in city traffic. Even if you park and stop the engine for a while and then drive again
- It happens in normal and dynamic mode
- Coolant level is stable, no sign of leaks anywhere (nor smell), no gas or residue in the coolant
- No smoke from exhaust on cold start
- When that happens I don't hear the fans, although I did hear them recently while it was idling before entering my garage so I guess they are working

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'd be inclined to think this is linked to having changed the hoses. Did you do those recently? Bad bleeding maybe?

Use a scanner and read the actual coolant temperature. Sounds like a system error of some kind but do check the actual temperature to be sure.

Thermostat is still the one from factory, it's my main suspect TBH, although I would expect it to be circulating before the 10-15 minute mark even driving relaxed, maybe it only opens partially and takes a while to fully open AKA needs to be replaced, just wondering how hard is it to access or where is it even located. Could it be air pockets? Even the Jag technicians admitted they have problems properly bleeding them

Yes it was done somewhat recently and it perfectly could be air pockets. I'm very far from the nearest Jag service so I talked to them over the phone and they said that's the most likely thing. Also the thermostat is the one from factory although it didn't show signs of problems before the hoses and water pump replacement.
