Default Yeah, I know it's cold outside... Alert keeps coming back

Hi all,

The "cold exterior temperature" alert is driving me bonkers. I clear it, it comes right back. According to the manual, it should show for a few seconds, then go away. Any ideas on getting it to stop?

Cheers!

OldSpice, the "cold exterior temperature" indication will come on every time that you start the car if the outside temperature is 40F or less. If you start the car and wait about 5 seconds (wait for the yellow light to go out in the center of the speedo), you should then be able to hit the RESET button next to the headlight switch and that will cause the warning to go away until you start the car again or the temperature rises above 40F and then back below. Then you will have to reset it each time it does this.

It says in my manual that a dealer can deactivate it.

Hi Thermo, thanks for the response. I've been hitting the button on the signal stalk. Next time it is cold enough, I'll try the reset.

Cambo and Steve, I don't have a light, it is a message that shows up in the odometer display. Thanks for the info, though. I'll probably be taking her in for a checkup, may ask if they can do that, but was hoping there was a way the owner could access an interface and make those types of customizations.

Mine has been doing that ever since I had it. Every time it gets cold out the message center has to let me know. I hit the end of the stalk and it goes away for about 5 seconds then comes right back on. It would be nice if there were a way to keep it off. The yellow light comes on too but that's not a problem. It goes out eventually and stays out.

Jac, like I mention above, if you let the yellow light go out in the center of the instrument cluster (does after about 5 seconds of the car running), if you hit the RESET button next to the headlight switch, the message will go away until you start the car again.

Thanks Thermo. I think what I was doing wrong was pushing the end of the stalk instead of the reset button.

Confirmed, it goes away with the Reset button. The stalk button just resets the display, does not reset the messages.

Thanks all!
