Default The horror I saw tonight

Parked next to this guy and almost cried. Someone keyed the entire driver's side of his F-Type. Deep scratch from front to back, multiple passes too.

I just snapped a quick pic of the back. So what do you think? Angry ex? Possible cheater? Jealous scumbags?

It's a damn shame that people have the audacity to do that to someone else's property. It happened to me once on an AMG I had parked in a city municipal parking garage that had cameras everywhere. When I addressed the security guard about it, he told me that the cameras were out of order. I was so pissed that I wasn't able to find out who did it. I'll never park in one of those places again.

Would a protective film like the XPel Ultimate that is self-healing prevent the scratches or just make them less noticeable? I am considering getting the doors covered as well as the hood, bumpers etc. although it is an additional $1000.

The film would certainly prevent scratches. As to whether the film would self heal - perhaps. It does recover from impact marks. However it depends how deep the guy goes. If he was trying to get to the metal then he may tear the upper layer of the film.

I would expect to have to reprint from this if it was filmed.

I have accidentally scraped an iron gas burner with my front bumper once and it looked bad but the film self healed completely.

Hopefully, it was not somebody aggitated by the agressive exhaust note, resonating in a parking garage, or we might see more of this.

Doubt it. Frankly I think people who would key people's car probably enjoy loud cars. They're just haters and punks. They have issues with their own lives so they take it out on other people. Getting keyed is my #1 fear. I live in downtown SF and there are a lot of disgruntled people. They think life is unfair to them, etc. so they take it out on other people.

Some people will key your car as retaliation. Maybe they think you took their parking spot, maybe they think you cut them off. They feel they've been wronged/slighted, so they retaliate. But I still think the vast majority of car vandalism is just that, punks and haters vandalizing for no other reason than they are punks and haters.

I saw this car in a public parking lot in Westwood Lso Angeles, very nice neighborhood. Not many cars in the lot or foot traffic so I doubt it actually happened there. My girlfriend actually noticed it when I parked and commented that this was the convertible of the car I ordered. Her first thought was that it was a guy and he cheated. I said or he stuck his dick in crazy. Either way, the car paid the price.

About a month ago someone keyed my '12 XJL. A double keying on top of the trunk lid, all the way across. No chance for that to be accidental.Always park far away from crowded areas, always within a parking space not to provoke any "retaliatory actions". Still, things like this happen, this are the risks for driving an expensive, eye catching car.

A coupe of years ago I got keyed in my apartment complex. I used Turtle Wax Scratch Removal Kit with some good results.

See post for before and after results.

Typical jealous scum bags. I left the top down on my car a few weeks ago and came back to a bunch of cigarette ashes all over the car and cigarette butts thrown in the car. Very glad I didn't catch them doing it as I'd have big lawyer bills and bail to be paying!

That sucks...
and to another poster above who indicated they always park their cars further out in lots and only in one space, I've seen cars keyed in this location as well, likely by some thug who decided the reason someone parked their car out there all by itself was good enough motive for them to make that car a target anyway.

Actually, the reason I park further out is for all the idiots who don't even realize they are not supposed to open their car doors in to the car next to them. I was recently at dinner and parked next to some people I knew. To my amazement, they opened their car door and hit my vehicle! Luckily, I was in a S.U.V. that I own, so really no big deal.
