Default I'm getting a discount off my F-Type coupe lease, but I'm a total newbie to leases

Never leased a car, always bought. I have until tomorrow to decide whether or not to pull the trigger on this F-Type. There's a heavy employee discount at my company that ends at the end of the month.

Here is the list of features on the car:
- Ebony exterior with Jet/Jet interior
- Dark Hex Aluminum trim
- 18" Vela wheels
- Switchable Active Sport Exhaust
- Climate Pack
- Premium Pack
- Vision Pack
- HD and Sirius Satellite Radio

And here is the breakdown of the lease:
- 36 months/10k miles per year
- Original M.S.R.P.: $73,075.00
- Purchase Plan selling price: $56,748.00
- Total drive off: $1,924.83 (incl. DMV fees, CA tire tax, first month's payment, bank fee, document fee)
- Monthly payment: $493.35 + tax ($535.28 incl. tax)

Like I said, I'm a noobert when it comes to leasing. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So I'll be paying $19,270.08 + dmv fees, and then at the end of the lease I have the option of purchasing the vehicle? So would I be purchasing it for $45,477.92? If that's the case, then this lease sounds like a no-brainer?

Oops $45,477.92 should actually read $37,477.92

Where did the $19,270.08 figure originate from? Is the $56,748.00 the selling price of the car? What is total cost to you including tax? How is the lease deal being presented to you; I.e. Is it on a written document?

I took the $535.28 and multiplied it by 36 months. The discount is essentially $16,327 off MSRP.

Here is an example breakdown in the packet I was given that explains the promo:

Lease has not been officially presented. The dealer doesn't have an F-Type Coupe in stock, and needs to get it transferred. They sent me an email with the info in my original post to see if I was interested in it.

Not sure if I'm able to disclose that, but let's just say we get discounts on Jags and Land Rover from time to time.

I think you need to pay attention to the 'Residual Value at Lease End' numbers. That's probably how much you'll need to cough up.

If true, 45K plus the 20K you already paid in lease payments =$65K total cost.

The most important factor is your net cap cost (the price you pay after cap reduction and discounts) and the money factor. The MF on the vert is better than the coupe but you are clearly making up for the small add in interest costs via your company's discount. I would take that deal as well with either the vert or coupe; whichever you like better. Residuals are set as a percentage of the msrp via your term and allotted miles per year.

If I read your post correctly this is a great deal I would take it if the mileage meets your needs (10k/year is typically enough for weekend car or daily driver with very short commute). Here is how I break it down:

With all the discount/incentives, you are essentially getting 22% off MSRP. That's your biggest win. Now, I know there are good discounts especially on the v6 convertible...so maybe 22% off MSRP is not that great?

At 60% residual you are basically paying $13k over 3 years to drive the car. The money factor is about 3.3%APR, so not the absolute best but not horrible. With interest and all, you'll be paying about $21k over 3 years.

At the end of 3 years, return the car. Or if you like it, buy it for $44K. But you're not required to buy it.

The high residual makes it an attractive deal for leasing. It may not be attractive to buy it at lease end, but because of the discount and zero down payment, it's a good deal. I see they based this example on a base car with no options. Is that what you want? Can you buy the car for the same reduction in MSRP?

Thats a very good lease deal and i'd jump on it. Provided of course the car has the options you want.

A deposit of 1.5% and monthly payments of under $400, and you have to ask?

Points to note are that your deposit is being paid for you (the "Special Purchase Incentive"), and the Residual Value is pretty high to get the payments that low.

But, it's a Lease, so if its actual value after 3 years is less than that you can just walk away.

I don't see sales tax in the calculation?

It's largely irrelevant based on the mahoosive free deposit, and equally mahoosive residual value figures.

But, good spot. Details are important."

I just joined to forum and test drove a 2014 V8-S convertible on Friday. I'm looking for a 3 year 10K/year lease. The car I drove had MSRP 103,7000. They were willing to knock 5K off MSRP plus pay the remaining 3 months left of my current 911 lease (equal to another 5K off). Residual is listed at only 51% and I don't see what where the money factor was listed. Is about $10K off MSRP pretty good cap reduction? The residual seems low for 3 years of a 2014 model. What else to consider? Monthly comes out to $1568.25. Even though I currently have lease someone negotiated the terms so I'm new to this too. Thanks.

Didn't know how to edit my post but it was a 2015 F-type convertible not 2014 that I quoted the price on above.
