In Australia we have guys that specialise in repairing bumpers (because they are plastic), they have the right gear for paint touchups as well. My mum was on a first name basis with some of them, they do a fantastic job, you wouldnt know.

I'd be looking for specifically bumper repair on google.

Most dealerships have specialists that stop by as requested and do these types of repairs. They also have people who repair wheels, etc. Try calling your local dealer and asking.

Dr Colorchip has matching paint kits with instructions to touch up and repair paint chips/scratches.

For those that have experience with PPF, do you this it would have protected the paint or would the rock have pierced the PPF as well. This likely involves some educated guessing, but wondering if the cost of lower body PPF in front is a good investment.

I have full PPF install on my F-Type, cost me about $7300 with side window tint and full ceramic coat. From what I've seen online its a good chance that PPF would have prevented the paint damage. The PPF section probably would be damaged and self heal under some heat and if not that would be easier to replace by a installer than a paint job I think.

This post from Corvette forums convinced me to get PPF and I recommend it on any car you truly value.

I have it and will say that it would depend on the sharpness of the rock. I had one fall off a logging truck and catch my bumper dead center about 1.5 inches above the grill. Tore the film and nicked the paint. It was a little rock too but at speed. Lots of cussing, little touch up paint and new section of $300 film. Almost undetectable now, except I see it and cuss more.

Some films are thicker than others as well, so that could play in.

These front splash guards might have helped as well.

I picked up my car yesterday after 2-year maintenace and while it was there I had them prepare an estimate to fix a slight blemish in exactly the same spot as yours. I say slight in that it is perhaps 20% the size of yours. The estimate: $1,806.98. I laughed in the service advisors face. The estimate details are a complete f'in' joke.

Yikes! The days of repairing and "blending" the paint are clearly over at the dealer.

They'd probably farm it out to a specialist for peanuts and add their markup, er "market adjustment".

When I bought my F-Type, it had a similar issue on the bumper cover so I had the dealer have their paint guy take care of it [and he did an amazing job]. I then had Xpel paint protection installed on the bumper cover, head lamps, and side view mirrors. Well worth it!

As far as small scratches are concerned, I became skilled at [which means ANYBODY can do this] fixing these blemishes rendering the exterior of my car to near showroom condition. It just takes a little bit of practice and the results are great [you might want to practice on the wife's car :]. The key is going slow and not removing too much paint [if you must get below the clear coat]. There are a bunch of excellent YouTube videos on this topic which explain the process in detail.

I concur with the DIY Dr. color chip route due to the following:
1.) It's down low and no one will notice this but you. t's not on the hood or the door.
2.) It's going to probably happen again somewhere else on your bumper within a week of you paying $1,000+/- to get it professionally fixed.
3.) DIY, drive it, and you can fix the next chip yourself then too.
