Default How do we get Jag to give complimentary factory maintenance for 2014s and 2015s?

What is the best place to start voicing our opinion to get Jag to give existing 2014 and 2015 owners, the rest of their remaining 5 year period with complimentary factory scheduled maintenance?

I can understand providing equipment is not feasible, but maintenance can be right? We are not asking for retroactive free maintenance either - just for the remaining term of the 5 year qualifying period.

How many F-Types are there on the roads today - shouldn't be much for them to cover.

Any ideas on where to start?

Just posted in the other thread that the maintenance is definitely something that makes me jealous of the MY16.

It would be great to get it added to MY15 and MY14 for the remainder of their respected warranties but I doubt that will happen. Some of the cost of the maintenance program is bundled into the higher base costs of the MY16 cars. So it isn't 100% free. More like subsidized.

You're fighting a loosing battle. They already sold you the car, they aren't going give you a discount after the fact. That's like going to a gas station on Monday and paying $3.25 a gallon and then when the price goes down to $3.15 on Thursday going in and demanding the difference back even though you've used some of the product already. Not a common practice.

yup, can't re-negotiate a deal after you've already bought it.

And how about getting the same deal for MY2016 for Canadians!

It's an incentive to buy the car. You already lost that battle.

The way I look at it is I got to drive and enjoy the car while there were relatively few of them on the road so this is the price one pays for exclusivity...

I was actually shocked when I found out after the fact. I did not even check that when I bought the F-Type and had to be educated. Both my 2011 XF SC and 2012 XKR-S had it so I "assumed" that was the standard for all Jags. It is kind of funny that my 2011 XF SC still has free maintenance after my F-Type has run out, somebody else will get free maintenance until the summer of 2016 on that one when a I already pay for maintenance my F-Type.

May help with brand loyalty if they do this. Most F-type owners are new to the brand. Mine is a lease and I know I will be back for a newer/better one in 3 years.

Well if you know you'll be back then you don't need to be bribed.

Personally I don't know if I will be back. It depends what else is on the market a few years from now. I always like the latest, so tend not to buy cars mid lifecycle.

That said if my car were totaled I would buy a MY16 R right now.

It doesn't concern me.

My 11% discount on a MY14 when the '15s were arriving in large numbers is a far better payback than the extra $2K in scheduled maintenance they've thrown in, not to mention the price increases between '14 and '16 models. The odds are I'd have to wait nearly 18 months from now to see a similar discount on a '16. Life is too short, and waiting for the "best deal" will never get you much of anything other than wasted time.

Now, if I were to keep the car that long, and I had an expensive warranty repair between years 4 and 5, I might feel differently.

I agree with Foosh, would not have swayed me. I almost got $20 off on my 2014. I was just astonished that the introductory years did not get the 5 years included service and warranty.

I think it's important to understand that the maintenance is not 'free', it's built into the cost of the car. None of the local dealers were anywhere close to me and would have meant fighting against traffic for each visit. Pretty inconvenient just to get a 'free' oil change.

I chose to have the car serviced at an indy near my office instead. Jag declined my request to give me a refund on the unused services.

I know it is not free but I thought it was customary for all Jags because I received it on my last two so I did not check. As for the price negotiation, that price was advertised not negotiated by me. I believe it was a color combo they had a hard time selling in the conservative suburbs of DC, everything seems to be black, grey, silver with black interior. It was an early 2014 model which we bought this January.

You would be surprised how many times every year i get someone with a 11 with new pads and rotors all the way around. When asked, "well the pad light came on so i went to a local shop to put them on!" oh okay, i guess you forgot its part of your regular maintence pack and there would not have been the bill for $1000+ you just paid.

+1.
Isn't that the truth? In the past, I would have seriously considered the Stratus Grey or the Rhodium Silver, but I am just tired of looking at nothing but shades of grey around here. The bureaucrats around here have absolutely no imagination.

I didn't think "wear items" like brake pads were included, which I put in the same category as tires. I thought it was just for scheduled maintenance. However, I haven't seen the "fine print" on the new 5Y/60K covered maintenance program.

I'd be surprised if pads or clutch would be offered as a part of the 5 year scheduled maintenance coverage.
