Default How on Earth???

So, Massachusetts changed all its highway exit sign at the beginning of the year, so doubtless the maps need updating in my new 2021 F-Type.
The Jaguar website just takes me round in circles.
I ended up calling the referenced number just to told that they were a 3rd party service provider unable to help with vehicles newer than 2017.
Can anyone explain how to get the updates on line without going to the dealer.
Th Jaguar website is useless!!
Updates are supposedly free for the duration of the 60 month warranty.

Go to this site:

https://www.jaguar.here.com/#home/0

Create an account and then login. Scroll down to Maps & Services. Download the latest version to a USB drive, Plug it into the car and install.
Further instructions are provided on the page where you download the map update.

Don't be disappointed if the changes are not noted. I've found that HERE (the nav map creator) often takes 18 months to include changes in road configurations and markings (like changed exit numbers).

+1 I got lost taking my car to a detail shop to have Xpel Ultimate Plus installed. The issue was the layout of an intersection that did not match the maps in the Jag navigation system even though they were the latest map version. I ended up in a construction site.

I talked to a local later and found that the intersection that caused the problem had been redesigned 18 months prior. The changes had not been reflected in the maps yet.

A couple of notes on doing the update. cpq100 gave the correct basics. It should be a blank drive with 16GB of space. Some have suggested you need a 3.0 drive, but I know from several years of experience on our F-Pace that a 2.0 will work. The interface may be a bit temperamental, so, if you have an issue, try a different stick. I have a proven stick that I use for just this.

Grab a couple of beers before you start; it takes about 30 minutes to download the map update which loads directly to the drive. The actual update in the car is much faster - maybe 8-10 minutes. The comment about lag time in reflecting road updates is true for the industry. The good news is you're not having to wait for an annual batch update (which still may not have the changes after 18 months). Often, annual updates only address selective parts of the country in a given year.

The process is a lot better than for the older MY's. Updates for my 2014 are in batch mode and take about 2 hours to load into the car. (You need a nice road trip - where you already know where you're going - while it updates.)

The HERE Jag maps get updated online once a month (far more than any other provider out there). Not sure how long it will take to reflect the MA updated exit numbers, but until then you can always use this for reference.....

Enjoy!!!

Thank you.

In the US, map updates are at the end of each month. August 2021 is about to get released, July 2021 is the latest.

Weird, I can't seem to get any further than the registration screen as it won't accept the security codes...

So in that case, first question, are these billed updates?

Second, will they be applicable to my 2015 Ftype R?

Thanks!

I tried to do a map update right after I created my account. It did not work. I waited 24 hours and tried again and then it worked. I think some behind the scenes setup had been done in the interim. You may want to wait a day and try again if you just created your account.

The "here.navigation" site leads to the "jaguar.navigation" site within which I cannot find any references to interim updates; monthly or annually or anything else.
The only thing I find relative to my needs is an offer to sell the 2020 NA maps version for $199. Several months ago I sent Here, Jaguar and Jaguar USA inquiries if and when the 2021 version will be available and none of them have yet responded with any information. My current maps are 2014; version v 30.14.02

Referring to Incontrol apps; there are two software types: one app for the mobile phone, and one for the car.
I have updated my mobile phone app to the latest version.
The update for the car states go to Jaguar or JaguarUSA for the "USB download". This is not for a maps update; this is to update the version of Incontrol software running in the car.
Neither Jaguar or JaguarUSA has any sites or instructions to download the software update to USB.
Any ideas or help or links?
Thank you.

See my first post above from February 18. Also note that you may need to wait 24 hours after creating an account for everything to be setup.

It was a bit frustrating that it would not work after I initially setup my account. I was about to call JLR and complain but tried it again first, only then did it work.

The newer maps process that updates each month only applies to ICTP. For older models, you'll only get the annual release. On the annual update, the "map year" will typically have a publishing date of the previous calendar year. I'm in mixed mode between the F-Type (MY14) and F-Pace (2017). I was regularly updating the F-Pace up until my initial subscription expired in July. Even so, monthly updates does not mean it has all the current and latest road information - only that it's updated regularly with the latest available data they have. I got the update for my MY2014 in 2017 and the pub date is 2016. I'm still using that version. I didn't go through the JLR website and saved a few bucks, but I haven't tested to see if the source is still viable.

uncheel; thank you for the info.
- You said you used a different site than JLR for your F-Type update. I thought we were forced to go through JLR because the updates are tied to our VIN? What alternate side did you successfully use?
- any insight into my other post about InControl app USB updates with the in-car software version?
Thank you.
