Default How to make my V8 R shine !

Hi,

I recently purchased a white V8 R, after previously owning a black 400 sport. I'm really happy with the engine upgrade but the styling on the car just isn't as impressive as my 400 sport. Don't get me wrong, its a great looking car, but I feel its missing something. I've posted a picture so you can see. I think it needs different alloys (was thinking about brixton forged custom wheels), maybe a spoiler (I like the SVR one as quite tasteful), maybe some extra carbon like on the bonnet.

Basically, I know this is subjective but what would you do to make this stock F-Type better? Also to give you an idea I do not want to look like a boy racer, so 21" wheels, lowering it, huge spoiler is a little too crass for me. I'm after something that still looks classy but more powerful, and more presence so to speak.

Thanks,

Jeff.

A drop and wheels are all you need to make an F-Type stand out. I like the rotor wheel design you have on the car now, but I don't like the fact they blacked-out the polished spoke sections - all detail in the wheels is lost when you paint them black like that. Go with silver or polished wheels. I also think the R's look better when the lower design skirt extensions are painted gloss black instead of body-color, but that can get expensive unless you just have them wrapped in black vinyl.

It sounds like for your taste, the carbon pack is the way to go. Carbon fiber hood vents, cf side vents. You can keep adding more pieces to your taste, like the crossbar in the grill, mirrors, etc. They look almost black on a white car and really pop.

For me, I'd be getting bonnet vents, and mirror caps in black, black lower sills (as per the exterior black pack - a wrap might solve that best!) and maybe some different 20" wheels (like these).

Carbon pack or Black pack. Your car is just too white. Needs some contrasting color parts. Vents, mirror caps and side skirts.

Just take it to a shop and have those items wrapped in Black or carbon film.

I am not really wild on those wheels myself, they dont add a lot to the car. I'd get something with thinner spokes. And if you wrap the skirts and front wings in gloss black (I left the edge body coloured) it will give the car its curves back which are lost in the body kit. I wouldnt do anything with the bonnet other than wrapping or painting the vents black.

I personally wouldnt do cf if you have gloss black on other bits. The windows seem to have a light tint, I'd go darkest legal. Essentially, I'd be just looking for as much contrast as possible.

Supporting what others have already stated, wrapping the sills in matte black and adding a bit of flash (diamond cut) to the wheels would liven up the looks.

Me, personally, I just can't get behind carbon fiber wrap. The whole purpose of c/f is that it's strong and lightweight, where wrap just adds weight. I know we're talking about a tiny amount a weight either way on a car that weights near enough to 2 tons that it makes no difference. I just see c/f wrap about the same way as an 'M' emblem on a 525.

Now, having said that, the hydro dipped engine cover had me reconsidering this position. Who had that?

lol, the other thing about cf is that having real cf vents etc usually only replaces plastic bits that weigh 3/5ths of sweet FA, I replaced the vents in my xkr with cf (for looks only) and I'm sure that I saved a whole 20 grams or so, certainly a lot less than I would save if I had a piddle before I got in the car.

Skullmaggots, I have owned a few white vehicles. One idea in addition to the several proffered, is to paint the inside of the various body joints also in white. To me the lines of the door-to-fender, or fender-to-hood joins obviously looks like a black line. That always displeased me -- yet I never did it FWIW.

Default wheels on your ride

thanks for the pic of your ride I have the oem wheels like you have but yours are painted black by someone??? I was going to this also, as i do like my wheels adn am looking for the f-Type all black wheels to purchase. You saved me getting mine painted because they do not look good. Add chrome wheel nuts to add some sparkle
otherwise, good luck pimping out your ride

Heres my white F-Type. Appreciate the black/white theme, but can easily look too much. Couple of suggestions...

Side sills painted black. IMHO body coloured sills make car look fat. Also wanted to retain chrome alloys to match with chrome exhaust pipes (V6).

Mine is lowered, spaced & has P7 grill. Don’t consider it looks boy raceresque.. Just right 👍😄

I like it, but it looks lkke the paint has gone to matte. My paint was almost completely matte from lack of leasee care when I took ownership with just 16K miles on the car. They might have done it on purpose.

A good start would be to invest in a good buffer and really work-in a quality cutting compound, hovering on every square inch for 30 secs or so. Then use the same brand polish to bring it up to a deep shine. If that doesn't do it, you may have to carefully and very lightly wet sand with 2000, 3000, 5000 then cut and polish.

Personally I think that will solve your problem, but a set of 305s on the rear could help too.

I would suggest not doing it on the cheap. I would take it to a professional detailer, have them do a complete paint correction and apply Ceramic Pro. The paint will pop and the car will look better than new.
