How to oil change? Do f-types have oil % indicator?
Having a hard time figuring out how to navigate through f-type software and getting any information. Most cars now a days have the oil % indicator on there. Do f-types? Or do you just change the oil once a year? (obvoiusly low miles).
I was told from previous owner there is no drain plug? So oil has to be pumped out from the top? Is this easy to do yourself, how much does a dealer charge for this?
Is oil filter easy to locate and change? what type of oil do you put in it? can it be mobil 1 or does it have to me a jag brand?

Yes, first time to check engine oil level was very frustrating, since I couldn't figure it out until tech told me to shut off engine, go get a beer, come back 5 minutes later, then scroll thru menu to check oil level. The confusion for me was you have to wait a few minutes later to check, not instant always on the go like my previous cars.
I've always used Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic, but this Jag uses Castrol 5w20 synthetic:

Yes the F-Type does have an oil drain/sump plug.
Well at least all V8s and V6s do, not so sure about the I4.
Your choice whether to pump the old oil out from the top using a vacuum/oil extraction pump (the extraction tube is smack in the middle of the oil filler hole), or drain it out from the bottom by removing the sump plug, I have done it both ways.
Some say the bottom drain method gets more of the old oil out than the pump method, but it's a hassle because you have to remove the front plastic under-tray to access the sump plug and that requires removing literally dozens of bolts and screws.

Lots of forum info on oil/change.
the "proper" oil is Jag specific and apparently has much titanium and is reputed to have a dye in it so it can be identified by Jag ( true ? Rumour?)
It is claimed the suck method will fully drain the awd cars....otherwise some small amount will be left to the front of where the front drive shaft impedes on the oil pan....who knows for sure.
If you "suck" you will know how much you removed....so refill that amount. ( thus avoiding my dealer who filled it with 8 L and said "opps" when I spotted the overfill ).
As an aside...the dealer removed the drain plug....and replaced it at a cost to me of $24..this adding insult to the injury of paying $18 / L of the magic Edge / Jag oil...recall of course the R awd jags take 6.25 L
so...buy a "sucker" and do it yourself if you can...some on the forum have said their dealer regularly uses Mobile 1 etc. I'm still trying to wrap my head around 1500km oil changes...but that's another thread.

BUMPING this Topic to get extra information on the Service Required indicator that is supposed to appear on the instrument panel. (As asked in the OP's first posting)
Is this a true oil life monitor that accounts for cold starts, idle time, and revs, as other makers' OLMs do?
Or, is it just a mileage counter?
Does it keep track of time as well as oil life (since Jaguar recommends one-year oil changes)?

I got the green 8-quart Liquid Vac oil extraction pump and was all prepped to do an oil change today but the hoses that came with it wont fit. One is too small about a 1/8" inner diameter and the other is too big about 3/8".
Anyone know the exact size tube that fits over the metal extractor tube at the oil fill cap??

Yep, I have measured it and for good measure (yuk yuk!) I slotted an 8 mm internal diameter suction cap over the extraction tube and it fitted perfectly.

I got it to fit by slightly warming the tube and expanding it a little over a screwdriver end. Takes a long time to drain/suck, but got the job done. Any expensive oil, tools, are still better than trusting the dealer. My cat donated her litter jug for the oil disposal, all worked out.
I love the F-type so much I rarely whine, but that electronic oil checker just is awful. Even when I run it for 10 mins, wait 10 mins it often won't report the level. Added only (R RWD) 7.2 quarts in case there was any oil left in there. Perhaps one day if I time everything just right the electronics will be kind enough to tell me if I should add a little more.

Try first thing in the morning before starting the car, after leaving it overnight just as much if not more oil will have drained into the sump as by warming it up then leaving it 10, 15, 20 minutes.
