Default How to Remove Shifter Surround?

Hi All

I'm struggling to remove the gloss black surrounding the shifter and all the buttons, it was easy enough to get the outer surround off but struggling to find any guide or pics on how to remove the gloss black part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I'd like to know this too. The marks and scratches on mine aren't very pretty and I'd like to replace the gloss black trim piece if possible. It's AT shifter surround.

thanks.

Not sure about the removal process, but Jaguar of San Diego priced a replacement for me at $475.

Mine's not immaculate either, but that discussion rather ruined my appetite to replace it.

I don't completely remember how i did it but I did.
Remove the trim around the shifter panel
Unclip the kneed pads on each side of the center console and have to undo 2 torx on each side
The rear edge of the black plastic housing is held in by 2 tabs that you have to reach through a slot in the side and pull outwards(found this step to be the most challenging)
You should be able to lift the housing and unplug the connectors and replace whatever you need replace.
I hope this helps a little. Its not the best tutorial but at least it gives an idea.

Would anyone be good enough to provide the part number for the shifter surround please. It's a 2019MY but suspect that makes little difference.

Cheers.

Well that was easy! Got me thinking about laying some carbon fiber over the bezel.

The Utoober could have just used the credit card to pop out the stop/start button for replacement.

That's what I was thinking. But then we wouldn't get to see how easy it is to remove the shifter surround.

I did my start button today, I started to go after just pulling the button and was like....damn easy enough to just remove the trim so I used a credit card (wife’s) in case it broke...haha and popped the trim up very easy and with little effort had the new button swapped out and trim clipped back down. simplest job I’ve done on this car!

Hmm, I should swap out my start button as part of my spring maintenance, mine is pretty disgusting. Anyone have a recent source (and part #) handy for the Ignis (orange) one? Thanks...

This is the same seller I got my new one from a few months ago: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-JAG...4AAOSwnu1edJJo
It's the correct button, ridgy didge OEM JLR in Ignis, but a little pricier than say Britcar and the postage is a tad slow.
But last time I checked with Britcar they couldn't source one anywhere.

Thanks, Oz! Ordered. Also ordered (elsewhere) an oil change kit, and a can of BG44K. Heck, maybe I’ll even wash the car this spring.

Sorry for the thread hijack...

Yep, I haven't washed my car for a month now, the longest it's ever gone without a wash.
Rain rain and more rain here, the wettest April in some 20 years and May is not looking any drier.
The "record breaking drought" (it wasn't really, not by a long shot) is well and truly over!
