My experience, they were decent but not great the first winter. Then absolutely horrible the second winter. I didn't give them a 3rd winter.

Noted, I'll probably not buy them again if they are only good for one winter...$1800 is a steep price to pay for that, might as well spring for a set of 255s square set up, maybe even narrower?

So i actually went out and freed the car today. Production date reads June 2018, front has 6/32 inch, rear has 5.7/32 inch, versus 10/32 new.
(I only measured the outer most straight groove)
God do these wear quick, if they last 2 winters it’s the equivalent of one year tread life???
it’s much drivable now the roads are plowed and slushy. Gonna drive home soon, that’d be the real test.

Safely made it home, city streets were slushy but MUCH MUCH better than last night, completely manageable. highway were clear. next time I will just wait until the snow stops and the roads plowed.

Yes I was in snow mode, rpm hovered around 1k, i had to use more brake than throttle. I also used normal mode with DSC off to back into parking spot, as the ~6" snow pile besides the curb wasn't moving anywhere.
The tires should be at MOST half worn, I got them last winter and did at most 5k miles total, granted there is the occasional peel out and a little bit of burn out, who can resist!!?
I do have to check it physically to be sure, and the dash TPMS might not be accurate, i will measure those and report back, doesn't seem like im heading out today though, the white stuff is still coming down.
Im thinking everything is fine and my expectation was too high, I will report back when I have the chance to drive it afterward with plowed, possibly icy roads, as the temp will be quite cold for the following days.

The real issue is the tire width. A dedicated winter set of 4 - 19" x 8.5" OEM (front) wheels with 235 or 245 snow tires would be a good choice. A suitable spacer/adaptor will be needed in the rear so that the stance doesn't look wierd. Also, at 36 psi, you are still too high for maximum traction. Drop that down to 32 unless you are typically travelling 100+mph this time of year. Also, toss 2 or 3 big bags of sand in the boot.
FWIW, did all that in the past as those are standard winter suggestions. However, when the tires suck, no amount of mitigations will help.
All too true. Those Sotto Zeros are Pirellis, after all.
