Fish, a new luggage thread is always appreciated. I will admit that for many years the BW and I were luggage addicts. We still travel with a set of Hartmann Tweed. My historic favorite is my Haliburton Zero soft B4 bag silver with the bars, made for 18 months. I still look for the matching duffle bag which I was not quick enough to buy. I developed a liking for fitted matched automobile luggage when I first saw a Gulllwing with its set.

Jaguar is its usual out to lunch self regarding luggage. I have seen people open the boot on a vert and LOL. Its a joke. If Jaguar had any marketing skills it would sell a beautiful set of matched fitted luggage for the machine and the dealers would put a set in the boot on the floor and when someone opened the lid, they would oh and ah instead of laughing.

My off the wall wish was always that Marchionne would buy Jaguar and make it great.

Here if we are making a trip that requires luggage, we take the E Class T-Model and leave the F at home.

Haliburton? Marchionne? Matching luggage?
I think I'm playing to the wrong room.

Luggage

The soft sided nylon light baggage someone posted from an event was superb, not "fancy pants" vs "I went to school in Boulder and go camping but love Jaguar", and oh so nice!!!

The Jaguar 5 piece was simply being hoodwinked into giddy brand lust, and that's unlike me. They are 100% not fancy, cheap nylon, somewhat gimmicky, not quality made. It's obviously a 3rd party deal, and it's also not perfect because it falls apart when filled, they're not perfect fits. Sure they fit well when empty, but... that doesn't make any sense. So not only do you not need fancy luggage, it's not fancy and it's not great LOL =) Some may disagree, but I agree with you.

Umbrella holder:

Interestingly enough, they let me customize my new 2019 and threw in a bunch of stuff, one of which was the OEM umbrella holder that fits in the trunk. It's extremely elegant and well designed, and convenient as all get out... but it actually creates problems when you're fully packing for a road trip and limits trunk space.

Also, I dream about this umbrella holder in the rolls:

Golf storage:

For Coupe guys that golf, I think about this all the time: https://worldwideauctioneers.com/lis...talante-coupe/
Not sure why the Porsche is there, but the 1938 Bugatti Type 57C Atalante Coupe had a miracle of modern metalworking. If you can see in this picture, in front of the passenger rear wheel and to the rear in the passenger door is a compartment to slide your golf bag in and out. I can't find clearer photos, but it's just marvelous... "the trim piece crosses it diagonally, with a small separate section on the band between door skin and lid. The lock is precisely tangent to the trim downstroke" (from Keith Martin's Sports Car Market)

The bags are great quality, light as a feather, and great looking.
When people make stuff like that for an event, a) some people don't want or need it, but take it. b) there's always some leftover in a box somewhere.
Anyone know where to find these, even if for a specific event? Cheers.
edit: I actually emailed your dealer. LOL =)

[QUOTE=Dwight Frye;2460223]This E Type restomod by Helm[QUOTE]

I am obsessed with restomods. I do a little newsletter and post a bit on a dumb blog, and this post may be of interest:
https://www.unclefishbits.com/restom...ance-or-is-it/
I lust after the Aston. Guy said it took like 4 years... I don't know all the specs, but it was a remote start. LOL

My 95 Wrangler won't be classic til 2030, because they keep moving the goalposts. I'm afraid they'll never let it happen. But I am curious about classic car designation and how restomods fit into that equation. I'm just exploring if it's worth waiting to be classic. If a restomod removes classic designation, then I think I might do a full blown restomod and possibly EV swap (when it's not pioneering something new and safer), and really trick it out. I would have zero idea who to go to around here, but it's definitely a cheaper way than going to auction for some fun little history. I've already got the history! =) Funny enough, I did full body work and paint job in July of 2013, and in October of 2013 the engine blew up. You can't give up after that, so I rebuilt it and now I want to have some more fun.

My recent trip was not by automobile and my luggage needs were specific, but I have taken to using packing cubes. The specificity is that I needed a bag that safely fit my riding gear, helmet included, and within the 50lb. limit. For that I have a wheeled case that is more duffel-shaped. It's made by Victorinox, and I got it at a local luggage store.

I have a messenger-style bag from 5.11 that I use as a laptop case. It fits my larger laptop with room to spare. It's pretty heavy duty.
Links?
The F-Type gament bag was simply ulta light and not clunky like a lot of proper garment bags. It fit so snugly, even overly packed, in that little rectangular space at the rear (forward?) of the trunk / boot space. That's all, but it also did get worn out pretty rapidly vs quality product.

There was this custom luggage that seems impractical. I was always curious to know more:

Whenever I create something for one of our events, I think about what I would want to receive if I were attending. And since I take a lot of pride in everything I do…well…I’ve not heard any complaints from anyone attending (of course what they say about me behind my back is another matter).

I suspect that you are correct in that someone receiving either/both of these bags have them sitting in a closet. Also, not everyone attending is a Forum member and/or is and rarely comes here. I have sent Forum members here and there—and in all cases someone who goes by SUPER MOD—many of the items I’ve had specifically made for our events, and if I had any extras of these bags I would gladly send you one.

I will make a mental note to send you something the next time I host an event (hint: please PM me your mailing address).

Best regards,
Jay

Here's some poor shots: https://photos.app.goo.gl/i3aJJpZAdXnL3Kfp6
I overfilled, it was a 3 week trip. Of course, garment bag is out of sight, but it's in there. I think I really only used the 3, and the laptop and bathroom / dob kit is inconsequential in size.
BUT... there's endless spots to shove other stuff, beyond that deep well that the luggage doesn't impact. Also, the whole car has endless hiding spots, like behind the seats for some stuff, etc. I was shocked how much we got in there, but overpacking means checking out of lodges or resorts was anxiety inducing. LOL

Love this, a lot. I'm no consumerist or materialist to any great extent, but I don't mind looking decent when checking in vs a glad garbage bag, however HILARIOUS... Yeah, I'm slowly mulling over the replacement set. I like utilitarian more than posh, but I really do want something functional and stylish that doesn't break the bank.

Umbrella Holders or Why There Will Always Be An England.

The vert boot has two elastic straps about 18" apart on the left side of the compartment and that is where I put a collapsible umbrella. The XK-8 had two straps that would suspend a regular umbrella from the upper lip of the boot. The RR solution is great. If that is an Atalante it is not the best. The one is Oxnard is superb as is everything in the Mullen Collection. The hard guitar case seems to me to be a poor approach. When I first got the F, I was attracted to the demountable luggage racks that could go on back. Reminded me of the little English sports cars of my youth. I guess I have not completely gotten over my luggage addiction, but now it seems to be limited to tote bags.

That Días De Los Muertos Jag symbol is SUPERB. Anyone got that as an image or sticker vs needlepoint? Wow!

Also, I bought the Summer 142 luggage rack and it's SUPER and it looks incredible with the car. I looked, and apparently I was vacation brain and got zero solid shots of it.

Mr. RickyJay52,

The L.L. Bean gear from your tours will not sit in a closet if there is any travel in the Jag. As I said previously the canvas bags were taken by my wife and put into daily service. Other swag is proudly displayed or cherished even if in storage for appearances at later dates We must thank you and the event sponsors again for your thoughtful and kind considerations. We do drive Jags after all and etiquette is foremost.

Thank you Vince. I have no doubt that just about everything given out over the span of 7 events I’ve hosted are used (enjoyed) on a regular basis. Just the other day I received an e-mail from our “Man in Canada” telling me he wore one of our event shirts—produced courtesy of Continental Tire—to some automobile event he was attending. He added that it garnered attention as well as compliments. Those event shirts, since 2016 and the first year I began hosting, have been sent to, and worn by, people in NYC (several people there), London (ditto), California, Texas, Canada and numerous other states; and not just to people attending the event (in a few cases I’ve had a few extra shirts or other item which I’ve sent to a few people I keep in touch with). So I do get constant reminders that they are being worn.

Which ultimately means I’d like to think that anything I’ve acquired, produced or sent are the gifts which keep on giving. (Provided they’re not edible, in which case you might just have a memory of it which, if you think about it, is what all these events are about anyway. Memories which, presumably, last a lifetime?)

Carpe diem.

Best regards,
RJ52

The luggage set was designed for the vert. It can't be over packed and must in go in one specific way.

$3250 for a carry-on? Knowing how luggage gets beat up I think it's fair to say that I'll never own one of those, even if I found myself tenfold wealthier. Perhaps even fiftyfold.
