I-Pace ordered, December delivery
I'm a huge fan and congratulate you, but I am still concerned about the driving experience in the absence of gears. Maybe a sports variant would have "gears" to allow you to engine brake in the twisties.
I'm going back to bed; I must have awakened in an alternative universe. I thought this was a X-152 thread.
I heard iPace production has been put on hold for 3 months ( they are assembled in Austria) because of a shortage of Matrix LED Headlights. Also, Waymo have ordered 20,000 units. It looks like this is going to be a production restrained vehicle which means there will probably be an up charge at the Dealer, not unlike the 2014 Range Rover/Range Rover Sport for the first year or so, that was $5-25k depending on the model.

I think you mean the E Pace - the iPace is the electric one. I'm not disagreeing to be confrontational, but I drove one on a Jag drive day (the diesel) and hated it. I thought the interior was crap (just an evoque interior dressed up to look like an F Type) and the ride was wallowy over bumps. The steering was nice though. It is the first Jag I've driven other than an X Type that I got out of and thought was rubbish. That said, the ride might have been affected by the 20 inch wheels it was sitting on, and I much rather driving sedans to SUVs.
If throttle response on the i-pace is anything like the Tesla roadster, there is no need for gears for engine braking. Just lifting on the throttle is like applying the brakes (but with all the braking energy going back into the battery rather than into rotor heat). The only time you actually require the brakes is for the last few feet before a full stop.
hmmm, so more like driving a ride on mower than a sports car. I'd miss the sensation of dropping a gear for faster deceleration, I think, but I reckon a pretend "geared" one would turn up sooner or later.
Lifting off the gas is pretty instantaneous. Regenerative braking is what it's called (if you didn't know. But you probably did because there are a lot of smart people here...)
Hi all, it's been a couple months since I've been here. Sorry my first post back is OT.
If y'all didn't know, there is an I-Pace forum too: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/i-pace-ev-102/
I'm considering one, since I probably am going to dump my Model 3 reservation. I bought a Volt for the interim but might just keep it for a while...

Seems to be a credible EV according to this review, looks like Tesla will start to have some serious competition in the next 2 - 3 years.
Picking up my Tesla model X next weekend - if the iPace were bigger I would rather have had that, it’s so much better looking inside and out for one.

Good review but I could barely understand the guy... I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I like small cars or I would have just bought a Model S. This might be the nail in the coffin of me getting a Model 3. Who wants to deal with this? (Although I know that some of us have to deal with parts being shipped across the pond...)

I have been told to expect it around December. However deliveries were suppose to start in July and so far does not seem to have happened. My Project 7 was promised for August and delivered in January.

Regenative is adjustable to the user likes.
Enhanced Brake Regeneration & Selectable Creep
To maximize range, I-PACE uses an Enhanced Brake Regeneration system that recuperates almost all braking energy. Once you lift your foot off the accelerator pedal, the system provides regenerative braking, comfortably slowing I-PACE while converting the power generated to optimize the battery’s range.
Using the Touch Pro Duo touchscreen, the driver can raise the level of regenerative braking allowing for greater control of the vehicle’s speed using only the throttle, also referred to as “single-pedal” style driving.
“Creep”, or the tendency of a vehicle with an automatic transmission to move when in gear without the throttle being pressed, is selectable in the I-PACE. Creep can be useful in slow-moving traffic or when parking, but if desired the driver can turn the Creep function off through the touchscreen.
Such an better product that the Tesla Model X. I find interiors of Tesla's to be the drabbest in the entire automotive industry.
When I first saw this, I wondered to myself it it was a joke.

The first I-Pace demo cars will arrive at Norwegian dealers next week. They have had a few cars for some months, but they have been for display only.
Now they will be available for test drives. Not shure exactly when the first cars will be delivered to costomers, but it won't be long.
