Illuminated door sills

Has anyone added these after the fact? My car did not have this option but I would like to add them. Is the car pre-wired for these and are the sills easy to remove?

I had them added to my car at the dealership. They said it was pretty easy, hour job at the most.

There's a thread on here somewhere about replacing them yourself. Not easy, as I recall.
