I'm torn between the F-Type R and the AM V8 GT
I'm torn between the Jag and the Aston Martin. I know the F-Type is faster, louder, more advanced. The Vantage is slower, not as loud (still sounds nice), and a 10 year old car. But I'm still tempted to go with the GT. I'd like to hear your opinions?

I tested the Vantage V8S when I bought my car. It was a 153K MSRP car which I was offered for 127K. It wins only on brand, and possibly looks, but that's arguable.
In all other respects the F Type is the better and much more modern car - which given some of the anachronisms in the Jag is saying something.
Edited to add: the Aston does feel more "special" than the Jag, though. With the right interior colors and trims, it's clearly a class above our cars.

The GT is comparably priced around $114,000. It can be larded up with options, but it's really perfect at the price point. It's a tough choice, the Aston is really a classic beautiful car.
The Vantage is going to the AMG dual turbo 4.0, in another year or two, and a new platform. It will be out of my range when that happens I am sure.

I did read that, I haven't inquired about this car with any dealer yet. I don't even know their availability. I've seen a few online in inventory, the only one I'd want is the Green without the lipstick. It would probably have to be ordered.

The V8 Vantage was on my short list for a long time. If Jag didn't reveal the C-X16 concept and follow through with it I would be driving one right now.
The GT is a nice hurrah from Aston Martin to get the price down $20k or so by limiting options. The $99k base price was the same as the R Coupe. However it is a car at the end of its life, and one that has been on the streets for a decade. Even though the badge says Aston Martin, I wanted something a bit more special at the moment and with power to match the sound. I can't wait to see what they do next though.
I do wish more auto makers would do the swan doors like AM does. There are some high curbs around LA and it would be nice to not worry about swinging a door into them. Plus they look cool when open.

Even though it's been on the streets for decades, I see more F's on the streets than Vantages.
I wish Jaguar had done the swan doors too, really disappointing for them not too.

You correct, just a personal observation.
I kind of like the thought of getting an old classic, that's new. Keep it for a few years, maybe longer. Everything new eventually gets old.
I also like the thought of waking up the neighbors with the loud R exhaust.

I would without the lipstick. I'm thinking about the car in general, not the graphics.

Some may not be aware that the lipstick on that AM is paying homage to the Aston Martin GT1 class racing team from both 24 Hours of LeMans and the American LeMans Series from about 2005-08. They campaigned two BRG cars, one with red and the other with yellow lipstick, and were very competitive with the factory Corvette Racing team. However, the Corvettes generally had the upper hand.

It's one thing on a purpose-built racecar on a racetrack but as a personal car, on the streets of America or Great Britain (or any country for that matter)...no thank you. (And I KNOW you agree Foosh).
