Interesting...GT-R interaction
Was headed to meet some friends for dinner last evening going up a divided 6 line highway. Ended up coming up behind a GT-R Nismo at a traffic light. Once the light changed and I was able to move into position beside him we both slowly accelerated not "openingly" romping on it, just feeling the other one out up to 70ish. Few seconds go by with an open road in front of us and his wife must have said something slightly before mine provided authorization to hit it...and he nails it to the floor about .05 sec before I do. He pulls about one car length ahead and that is all...it was a flat out pull up into the triple digits and he could not pull away.
We were both grinning like school boys and I will have to say I was actually shocked. I really thought the GT-R would have soundly trounced the F-Type, however, they were quite evenly matched. I would like to have had more road and really seen how they would have done on a three count 45mph rolling launch up to 130-140 mph range. Could have been very interesting...

Yeah that's a bit hard to explain. Maybe he started in the wrong gear? Stock vs stock, he should pull away easily.
The Jag is definitely no slouch, though, and top end is not the strong point of the GT-R. Nismos are usually stock, and a tuned regular GT-R is faster. I have both and the GT-R, which is not stock, is definitely faster. But a stock regular GT-R should be as well.
The only other way to explain this is if it was not a Nismo and was a pre-2012 GT-R that the owner by some chance hadn't tuned, which is a rare thing. Those had 480 or 485 HP stock, depending on the year, and would be pretty even on the top end with your 495 HP V8S.

I think you are probably right. It was an older GT-R and looked like a garage queen. We were both in our 40s and I doubt his was modified in anyway. It was a Saturday night, and we were both headed out to dinner with our Significant Others and just had to be boys for a few seconds
Congrats to you for having both...but I would hate to have your insurance bill

Well, with my wife one is never quite sure what you are going to get. 60% of the time she is dramatically grabbing for the "oh ****" handles and yelling at me, but there are those special occasions (especially when alcohol is involved) when she provides the authorization for me to let it rip and have some fun with her in the car...because without her in said vehicle...I am always having fun

My girlfriend (who I call SWMBO) makes Miss Daisy look like a speed freak, so whenever she is in the car I drive reeeeeeeal slow, otherwise my left ear hole cops a bashing and I pay later in other ways!
My wife, soon after getting in the car clearly states her disposition at that moment and what that means in regards to her tolerance to driving style.
That said, there are on occasion, times when her mood allows me to have some fun, often after one or more glasses of wine, usually more. I would also add that I have learned to never make too much noise as she thinks the crackle and pops sounds like something is wrong with the car, and just a bit vulgar. Now that just hurts my feelings. :-)

Got a good laugh from your note... I feel lucky though that my wife leaves me alone to enjoy my harmless pursuits.

Thought is that the Nissan is known, particularly the current model, for having horrid Turbo lag. The nice thing about out supercharged cars, whatever we have we have nearly immediately. I was watching the head to head between the Mercedes and Nissan GTRs and the Mercedes won, part of the reason was Mercedes had sorted the lag (also turbo) but Nissan hasn't. Anyway, just a thought.
