Welcome aboard Brad! Nice to have already met you and looking forward to doing again soon. As I mentioned to you when we did meet, in person, I suggested removing your front plate. The car is simply too stunning to have a front plate on. And, contrary to what DJS—our esteemed forum member and friend Dave—might tell you, mentioning my name to the officer who pulls you over will not help. (Unless I’m with you. Then....it might help).

Having said that, in the 22 years I’ve lived in Maine—and NY before that; where both places “require” a front plate by law—I’ve never had a problem.

CONGRATULATIONS on your stunning car!
Jay

Welcome! I'm a brand new member in Maine as well! Just joined yesterday. Hope we can all get together this spring once the roads clear up a bit!

I’m a first time Jaguar owner, and beyond excited to finally own the car of my dreams. Since a young child, I was the proud owner of Matchbox E-Type toy, and ever since have wanted a real one. This year my loving wife convinced me that I really did need a new F-Type. So here it is.... just in time for the Maine winter 😊. I get a thrill every time I drive it, and I even must admit that I’m enjoying the attention I get whenever I stop somewhere.... every time. We are renovating a house, and have ordered a fire-engine-red epoxy floor for the garage.

My new friend (and my first reply) told me about this forum, and I’m very much looking forward to learning everything I can about the F-Type, and meeting new friends that share my enthusiasm. Shout out to Scarborough Jaguar and Misch, who made buying my car a pleasure!

Looks great. Seeing how your car pictures on a gravel road, consider applying transparent film to the leading edges - hood, rear fenders.

Also, make 101% sure to stay on top of oil changes. Do not wait for full service interval, especially for the first engine oil. AJ133 V8 and AJ126 V6 engines in F-type use direct injection (DI). DI means these engines are prone to developing sludge on intake valves if oil is neglected. These engines also use oil pressure to control variable timing. All of this means that things go bad very quickly when the oil gets dirty. Fortunately, frequent oil changes using spec oil shown to largely mitigate sludge.

you got it! Can't wait for decent roads again myself. But I must say, aside from this Tour de France Team Sky F-type with time trial bikes on top, seeing an F-type coupe with a seaSucker rack and skis on it might be the coolest thing ever.
Sure beats the Thule rack on the top of my dog hauler!

Thank you for that advice! Fortunately the house under renovation is on a paved road with a paved driveway. I did get the clear coat package and warranty with the car.... and hoping that’ll help too? I was very suspect that Jaguar recommends the first oil change at 16,000 miles and sought advice. I have made arrangements with the dealer to change it at 3K. What do you suggest for an interval after that?

Spot on.

Depending how you drive it. You can zero-in using oil analysis or just always change it early.

I think oil degrades non-linearly. The worst performance and most sludge formation is at the last 20% of the change interval.

Also, remove engine cover. It traps heat, increases engine bay temperature and long-term causes issues with plastic coolant pipes and connectors.

That car looks fantastic especially in the top pic. I have yet to see the facelift in the wild, really looking forward to it. Enjoy.

Looks like a nice part of the world as well - unfortunately the closest I have come to Maine is reading John Connolly books.

There appear to now be a plethora of Ftypes in Maine (with all due respect ElGuapo: ie: RickyJay)
