I've read through the other threads on phone mounting and after trying a handful of the methods I thought what I ended up with was worth a new thread to consolidate.
I'm really happy with this mount, much stronger magnet than the Apple brand MagSafe, my previous one would fall off the mount on hard bumps under acceleration. I also like that the colors are nearly an exact match with the trim and piano black on my interior, see photos. Placement seems to be far enough off the vent for it to still hit me with some air, the screen is mostly blocked by my hands if I'm at 9&3 and bluetooth seems pretty good over here, still some occasional cut outs, I'm thinking about trying one of the wireless carplay solutions for 2015's that would hopefully fix that.
You can see how I routed the 10' USB cable in the pictures, this was a pretty quick solution, I have not removed any trim in this car yet so someone may chime in and tell me to pull up door frame trim to get the cable even more tucked away.
