Leaky Engine mounts - method of repair?
Hello all, (I have a 2004, XK8, 61K miles.)
Quickly, I want to thank everyone who assisted me with my headlight issue a few months back (they worked on manual, not on auto.) Mechanic said it was the switch, but, he said he reported it as the 'main switch' so that it would be covered by Select. Anyway, thanks a million to you guys.
While in for repair of the headlights, I was told that both the engine mounts needed replacing. The dealership said they have to lift the engine out completely, but another repair shop said no, they're replaced from the underside. What say you who know so much?
Also, the dealer said that they were NOT covered by Select Edition. First they said it was part of the suspension, then they said it was an 'exterior mount'. Part # MNC7500AB. What do you all think and how should I handle this with Select. (I've opened a case with them and expect a call back in a day or two.) Maybe you can offer some mechanical analysis or accepted terms of the industry so that I may speak more intelligently about the covereage.
Thank you all very much. - Raymond.

I just had mine changed in my 01 XKR. Same part #. I thought I had a oil leak and it turned out to be a leaky motor mount. The other mount had leaked a long time ago and was dry. I got the mounts from jaguarparts.co for $91ea. It really made a difference in the smooth feel of the car when the engine was running.
