Default It's a little late, but...how tall is the tallest owner of an F-Type on the forum?

Good afternoon All,

My '22 F-Type R (coupe) arrived in the Port of Baltimore (USA) today at 12:01am. Been waiting 5 months to be able to say that. Still counting on another 2-3 weeks before it will arrive at my local dealer. I sat in a 2020 F-Type and drove, very briefly, a '16 a few years ago. I am embarassed to say...I may have willfully disregarded "cabin space" in favor of, "I LOVE THIS CAR". Here's my appeal: All you F-Type owners...How tall are you? (Feet and inches please...I don't think this whole Metric thing will last ) I am 6'2"--195lbs. But, due to 3 generations of male pattern balding in my lineage, I have no hair so I won't be worried about the extra inch or so (I'm not from Texas...so we're not talking 4 inches) of hair hitting the headliner. In my brief time behind the wheel, I recall that I didn't have "tons of room" in the cockpit, but I didn't feel abnormally closed in either. Looking for "real world" experiences with height and comfort in F-Type. Either way, I will be happy to slouch, but curious about experiences. Thanks ALL!

I feel very comfortable at 6'1" 200lbs. My only complaint if any is with the seat all the way down and leaned back some the windshield frame still blocks my view of most traffic lights when I'm waiting for green.

Even at 5ft10in (190lbs but told by wife to lose 15lbs !!) I still need to stop a distance back from traffic lights to see the lights turn green.
Enjoy your new car. We just got back from a 2,250 mile road trip. The F-Type is very comfortable.

6’3” and 215 #
before buying my 2016 coupe( sight unseen) I asked the sales guy who was 6’3” to sit in it with a helmet as I wanted to track it…he did, it fit .
with my helmet I move the seat forward a bit from “normal” and recline it a bit.

learned my lesson years ago…red MG roadster, red leather with black piping….sat in it bolt upright and stuck up above the windshield. No go.
the red Renault 4 dr sedan 1100cc was a willing but totally inadequate substitute.

learn to slouch…the MG I bought years later, ditto E Type fit just fine with the slouch…

you will love the car.

Thank you all! THAT is the reassurance I was looking for. In the end...I would willfully overlook the inconvenience, but glad to know that I won't be wildly uncomfortable.

We have had forum members who have been 6’4” and I seem to recall at least one person I know (my son) at 6’5 and weighs 260lbs and is built like a linebacker and he fits

I am 6'2" at 180 and I can verify that the F-Type is just fine for daily driving and short trips. However, after a 1500 mile trip in my last F-Type and a 1600 mile trip in my current one I must say that it is a snug fit and takes the right seat adjustments to make it more manageable probably because I'm long legged. And after around 5 hours of non stop driving it seems to take around 5 minutes to actually get out of the car and another 5 minutes of walking around like Festus from Gunsmoke (for us older folks) to pump gas and visit the restroom!

I walk "...around like Festus from Gunsmoke..." when I get out of my Suburban after 5 hours...likely to take me 10 minutes or more in the F-Type. LOL! I'm a little more torso tall than legs, so I am hoping to have a decent fit. Thanks for your input.

That is great news! I'm well shy of "linebacker" status, so I feel good about fitment. Cheers!

One more comment on this subject. I think that the performance seats in the F-Type from 2018 and newer are 2 inches thinner which would make a noticeable difference. Maybe it was for the R and SVR versions but someone more knowledgable than me will chime in if I'm misremembering.

Wow something that applies directly to me!

6'9" tall, 230 lbs. Even proportions.

2015 F Type R - Coupe

Yes its a bit short, but thats life for me. Its not so bad. The very bottom of the headrest bump out that starts on the car is about between by upper shoulderblades. Headrest stops ~ 1/3 down from top of head. Ample leg room when you put the seat all the way back and mess with it a bit.

All in all im very happy. It was this or a Gen III Viper, and lol that was no where near close to happening... AMA

Great to hear from so many tall, and 1 very tall, F-Type owners. Thank you all for chiming in. Truly feel better now. Been waiting 5 months which seemed easy because the car hadn't even been built...now that I know it's actually IN the states, the wait seems interminable.

Cheers all.

I am 5'8" and about 175 lbs so I have never had a problem fitting in sports cars and cars with close fitting sport seats. But I can offer one observation about the F Type seating adjustments in my 2021 R Model with the 12 way adjustable sport seats.:

I generally like the height adjustment on seats to be all the way down towards the floor as far as they can go. I have found that when you are making the adjustment in the Jaguar by holding down on the button, the seat reaches the lowest setting and then kind of bounces back to a higher adjustment level. Weird.
But if you "creep up" on the lowest setting by bumping the adjustment button repeatedly you can get the seat down to the lowest setting.

I'll assume that your car is coming by rail from Baltimore to Kalamazoo so an iron decontamination treatment along with a clay bar treatment of the paint may be a good idea once you take delivery. Then apply a coating of your choice to protect the paint.

Excellent tip on the seat. I too like my seat "bottomed out". My dealer said he would notify me "when it was loaded on a truck", but that may have been a generalization so I really don't know if it will be rail or car carrier. Will research "iron decontamination treatments" and will definitely perform the clay bar treatment and applyan appropriate coating. Will post pics when possible.

Thanks!

Needless to say that you should check the car minutely for paint imperfections, small marks, scratches etc on arrival.
But also look very carefully at the side windows in different lights.
Mine came with a vertical scratch in the driver side window.
By the time I noticed, it was too late to claim.
Fortunately, I was able to polish out most of it such that it is almost invisible.
Here's hoping it arrives in perfect condition. Enjoy!!

That would be one of my fears come true...another thing to occupy my waking hours while I wait. I am hoping it arrives flawlessly.

Cheers!

Unless Jaguar has gotten their fit and finish quality controls tightened up since 2018 I would strongly suggest you carefully examine for panel gaps, especially front fenders to hood fitment...but other areas as well.
Also check tire pressures to be sure they've been deflated to recommended PSI settings and press for FE alignment check.
Enjoy. I'm jealous
