It amazes me how many people have gone running to YouTube to make a video about Jaguars poor car sales in 24-25.

Anything for clicks I guess.

It's almost as if not producing new cars would lead to a sharp decline in sales....

Jaguar doesn't, but some dealers do. I'm sure that's a different category of sale.

Correct. Almost all manufacturers, including JLR, report a vehicle as “sold” the second it rolls off the assembly lines. Most brand dealers have to finance and pay interest on the cars until they are truly sold to the public. However, for monthly car sales reported to shareholders and Wall Street, it’s sold before it ever arrives a dealership.

SiriusXM does the same thing with their subscriber membership counts. The second a car with SiriusXM.rolls off the assembly line they count it as an active subscriber even if it sits unsold on a dealer lot somewhere for a year.

Clever accounting practices.

Not so clever. An auditor would simply analyze the dealership's record of car sales and compare to State registration records. The current state of Jaguar is definitely hurting the sale of F-Types because the company as we knew it is effectively out of business. Only people who always wanted an F-Type will buy. It is a weird feeling to have a brand new car that admirers cannot buy brand new and to continually explain that Jaguar only makes electric cars now etc… The best F-Types appear to be gone. They even deleted the optional premium Meridian sound system in the last year and other options.
