I've always heard that Florida is the only place in the world you can drive North and end up deeper South. From my experiences with New Orleans, Mobile, Floribama state line, and Captiva Island, I will agree with myself.

I much prefer the looks of the coupe over the vert, mainly because the coupe's styling includes such a graceful transition from the roof to the rear quarters; and it includes rear windows, which not only add to visual pleasure but visibility as well. I'm also not a big fan of verts in general but would like to see Jaguar incorporate working rear windows and/or a sunroof of some sort to enhance the driving experience when A/C or heat are not necessary.
Interesting that vert owners nearly always post pictures of their rides with tops down.

There is a reason for that - the top is always down. Top up is half as fun, at best.

P. S. I too dislike convertibles, but there is no other way to hear the the car`s majestic harmonies, felinine purrs, decellerating burbles, 1st-3rd gear tire squeal, violent crackles and shots, and ferious full throttle roars. Top-up, you can really only hear the last two, even through cloth, windows down.

So for the glorious F-Type there is no other option than top down. I can't deal with top-up, though I hate being on display for the endless gawking. For new adopters, I suggest skipping the coupe, at least when test driving, then decide.

True, except a quick switch to the VAP valvetronic exhaust and the glorious soundtrack is audible inside the car, even the coupe. Factory exhaust seems to be all about deadening sound in the vehicle, VAP system fixes that, at least in loud mode.

I have to disagree, turbo charging attempts to extract all the energy left in the exhaust. Sure, some sound ok, but loving any tubo (I own two pretty high dollar turbo performance cars) is never having driven an F-Type. If you love cars and don't want an F-Type, stay very far away.

I drive my stock exhaust V6 coupe with the window down a lot, and there is plenty of exhaust (and SC) noise inside especially at WOT.
And that's with just the driver's window down, with both windows down it's LOUD!

Agreed, but have you ever driven the 'vert with the roof down? It's insane. I love engine noise, but it was actually a bit much for me when I had a 'vert for a day, in the v6 at least.

The diff tween the base and S exhaust note is *striking*. I personally prefer the sound of the base.

THIS IS FANTASTIC. wow. Missed that. And I know some dislike that car, but I do love it's styling, too.
One question.. FREAKING NOT MEANT TO OFFEND... personally, sometimes I see the back of the coupe and it looks like the back of a tesla S. I assume that's both wrong and sacrilegious?

There's a resemblance. The Coupe looks much better than the Tesla, but I too have noted some similarity.

Definitely a similarity in the rear. It’s the front of the Tesla that’s bucking futt ugly.

Well, the Tesla S is quite beautiful from the rear, so how could offence be taken? In fact the side view of the Tesla is pretty nice too...it is only the front that lets it down. But having driven one, I can say that both the interior and the driving experience left me flat. Fast, yes. But I love the sound of an engine and the exhaust sound of my F-Type is addictive.

I have to say I dont see the similarity to the F Type, though I always thought that the designer of the model S must have had a picture of the first gen XF on the wall, and the XF rear was designed to follow the XK from memory, which itself was pretty close to the DB9. I thought that the XF and XK booty was the best part of the design, the pointiness of the F Type coupe rear doesnt really do it for me so much though it has nicer hips.

To me the trunk looks a mile wide and meaner than the coupe.

Coupe or convertible are both beautiful and I feel lucky to be given the choice.

Coupe is beautiful but I choose the vert. As it adds to the driving experience that you can’t get in the coupe. I actually like the look of it with the top up as well. Very 60s roadster.

Forgetting the way they look from the outside for a second as it’s subjective......let me paint this picture of one of my last rides with my lady before I put it away last fall. Cool but sunny fall day, leaves we’re changing to brilliant orange and reds, 80km (suggested)twisty country roads in cottage country , the leaves that had fallen were picked up by my passing and swirling behind me, pops and crackles to match the visual beauty ....in a coupe would be great, in a f type vert? As the saying goes “if I have to explain it to you, you wouldn’t understand”.

F types in either form are the most beautiful cars at any price.
