JLR Moved My ETA - Further Out 😤
Glad your update brought good news!
As for why they won't give me the ETA, I guess it is just laziness. Kinda sad considering this is a $100k+ car but I went through the same thing last time I ordered a vehicle. That one took 10 months, I gave up at 6 months and bought off the lot. I would push more to get the info, but I got a really good deal and don't feel like pushing my luck. Once the build date comes, I'll start asking for real dates.
sounds to me like you have a dealer that simply is lazy, or uncooperative, or both. I could anticipate the various reasons they might give for not offering this information, but if you've placed an order, the information is on their "Vista" computer terminal.
Have you given them a deposit? Assuming the answer is yes, I would insist on a copy of the Vista Build Sheet.
If you have not secured an order with a nominal, fully refundable deposit, or if they have not asked you to sign any document verifying the specs on the "order" you believe you placed, then I would be suspicious too as to if an order truly exists.

I paid a $5000 deposit on August 23 and received a Configured Vehicle Specification sheet with an order number. The dealer and I both signed an order agreement. However, it has been almost a month and I still cannot get any information from the dealer. I contacted my sales person again today and told him I knew that Jaguar had a build sheet with the build date and ETA and I wanted a copy. He appeared to not know what I was talking about. If I do not receive a satisfactory response tomorrow I am calling the dealer manager and then JLR if needed.
I have both the "Configured Vehicle Specification" report you reference (3 pages long), AND a single page that reads "View Order" which is the build sheet others here have referenced.
It is the View Order form that shows the Planned Build Date and Planned Delivery Date. Additionally, this form displays the Common Order No., Factory Order No., NSC Order No., and VIN No. (which in my case is currently blank but will get populated by the factory once the vehicle is built). This same form also displays my full name as the recorded owner of this particular factory identified production unit.
I have numerous copies of this form, as updates were generated each time I added or changed my order. the earliest is dated July 3rd, some two months before my vehicle was scheduled to begin production, and nearly four months prior to the anticipated delivery.
Based on the web address printed in the footer of each page, I can easily discern that both forms are generated by Vista. Vista is the software the Dealers use to communicate with the Factory, and to input and track orders that are inbound for customers and inventory; the Factory in turn uses the Vista system to communicate with the Dealers about the ongoing status of pending orders, among other things.
Following the web address printed in the footer, the View Order form is located on the "Maintain Order" tab of the Vista software, and I suspect both this and the Configured Specification forms are but a few clicks apart from one another on the same tab.
I knew they would find out! LOL
Oh well, that makes as much sense as anything else going in with my order.

Hmm...
I finally received a copy of the build sheet. But my build date and delivery date are listed only as month/year. My build date is 11/14 and my delivery date is 12/2014. Some people on this form have the build date listed as month/day/year. Is that because my build date is still several months away?
Not sure why others appear to have more exacting dates...
I've been on them for it so I can begin tracking the car's journey,I was emailed the info yesterday...
Factory complete date is 9/25 and I imagine it'll be about 5 weeks after that when I see it...
I need to email my GM for an update on mine. It was in build status last week.
Yes, hopefully the crew is putting the finishing touches on my car as we speak...maybe yours as well...and we can start tracking these cars, woo hoo!
