Default killed the F

driving last night on a 3 lane highway i was unknowingly in a right turn lane.

when i realized at about 50 mph i attempted to move into the lane to my left, but as i did so i did not realize there was a huge median in front of me.

i mounted the median with a huge thud and lost both front wheels, brakes and suspension.

i continued about a 1/4 mile with all air bags deployed and no steering or braking ability.

i finally came to a stop against a guard rail taking out the headlight and surrounding panel.

the driver door would not open or close as the bodywork got pretty mashed up. i did mange to kick the door open to escape.

im not sure how far i traveled without wheels and at this point i dont know what damage (if any)was caused to the engine.

the engine did restart when i accidently hit the start button.

no full insurance so there wont be a replacement and i will likely sell it as is for a project.

i enjoyed owning my dream car, but now its back to reality and no more sport cars in my future.

i didnt like who i became behind the wheel of this beast so its not all bad.

a lifelong jag owner so i'll drive my old lowered x type sport until i decide on a daily driver replacement as the X has over 170000 miles now.

maybe a 2012 XJ

Wow that's crazy. Glad to hear you made it out. It seems ill advised to not have full insurance on a vehicle like an F Type, but to each their own..

Any pictures to see how well (or not) the car held up?

Glad you are OK. The car sounds like a total loss however. RIP. No insurance? Hope it was paid off. What year?

ive received some emails here about my plans for the car.
these emails are welcome so feel free to write with any parts you need. i do not see it as being insensitive.
tomorrow i have a friend with a shop taking a look at it, and i have another jag mechanic friend who says it sound like he may be able to repair it.
here are the possible scenarios....
1. fix it and sell it
2. sell it as is on ebay
3. part out the bigger ticket items.
i will know more by early next week, i do know that i will not fix it and keep it.

life lessons have been learnt and im thrilled to be alive with no bodily damage and no damage to anyone else or other cars!

wow, that would definitely be scary going 50 mph. glad to see you are ok. is there a reason you only had liability and not full coverage insurance? simply trying to understand as I am considering dropping full coverage for my older vehicle but would hate to come out of pocket for this type of accident.

That breaks my heart. But it may be repairable? Components for the salvage websites. Anyway. I live in Georgia and may be interested in rear tires , seats and engine.

Now that makes sense. A picture is worth a thousand words, or in this case, $50,000 (sorry may be too soon). Truly glad you could walk away and nobody was injured. Very sorry for your loss.

after further investigation it appears the F is not financially repairable.
opened the hood today to find the upper control arms had pushed through the body and pulled part of the frame/chassis away meaning the alignment will be off, even the hood above the control arm has a dent either side.
next week we will put it on the lift and check the engine out.
hopefully its good, it did restart but i shut it down to be safe.
I will put it on ebay next week and if it does not sell then i can start parting it out.
its a 2015 F type S v6
metallic black paint with both black pack options

Wow, that is pretty intense for the strut mounts to pop like that. Hope you will be able to recoup some money. I know items like the LSD and drivetrain will net you some cash.
