Default Knock noise at angle up driveway

Hi,

I've searched the forum with no luck on this one, so here's hoping...

I have a pitch to my driveway that forces me to approach at a pretty extreme angle to avoid scraping my nose. Often, at the most extreme angle/pitch, there is a pretty loud 'knock' noise coming from the engine bay in front of the dash somewhere. Feels like maybe a nut popping of a threaded bolt or something - tough to say.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? Would love some advise on how to chase this down. I don't want to cause any damage to the car by continuing to cause the knock noise.

Any help is appreciated,

Cheers!

I'd check sway bar bushings/endlinks first. That's always my primary suspect when I hear any kind of a knock coming from the front.

It could just be "tire (tyre) skip", fairly common on cars with wide tyres, search this forum and t'interwebz for info.

Thank you guys! I'll go inspect the sway bar and bushings. I'll put the result back on here. If that doesn't fix it, maybe it is the tires - but the knock has a very metal clunk sound to it. I'll post the result here tomorrow.

Again...thank you!

Also check the bolts on the stabilizer bars running from the top of the firewall out to the fenders.

Good call.
And the other bolts/bars as well, the two more towards the front of the car.

I was experiencing the same thing as you described. Turns out that some underbody bracing had to be tightened down.

The above postings confirm that many F-Type owners suffer from having a screw loose.

I expect they need their neck bolts tightened every now and then.

Better a loose screw than a screw loose.

Here was the culprit for the knock noise in my case. The torx bolt attached to the support bracket there. It was only about 1/8 of a turn loose, but sinching it up definitely eliminated the problem. Thanks for chiming in!
