Launch control
Thinking of buying the new F-Type. Does the 2021 F-Type R offer launch control? If not, what would be the reason?

AFAIK no V8 F -Type has ever offered launch control and it has only ever been offered on the V6S, the P380 and the 400 Sport. Dunno about the P300 (four potter).
I vaguely recall a discussion around here somewhere why it is/was V6 only, something along the lines that the V8 has too much torque.

The V-8's seem to get the best launch with a simple push of the accelerator, loading up RPM's against the torque converter just results in excessive wheel spin. Launch control would likely have to moderate engine power so much to compensate, I imagine 0-60 times would suffer. Besides, learning to launch the car is big part of the fun, IMHO
The V8s have plenty of torque throughout the rpm range not to need launch control. The purpose of launch control is to increase the stall speed of the torque converter to allow the engine to spin at a higher speed before the the dig is initiated. Launch control is only needed for the lower torque V6.
The loaner 4-pot I had was fitted with launch control. No idea if it was standard or an option, though, but it's definitely offered.
I think launch control was standard on the 4 cylinder. Mine has it and it is not on the build sheet as an option.
Really helps get it rolling. Very noticeable difference. no rev matching changing gears.
