I believe you are correct. I really enjoyed the comment someone made about God trying to tell me to buy a Porsche haha.

Yes it's an AWD R.

It would have to be since that's all that's available for '16 NA production and I believe he's from the States...

In which case he should ask to have the late model trim replaced by a matching early model trim.

The late one Blows big time...

With everything that has happened in this saga, I would hope that the car was built wrong, and there wasn't some damage that occurred and the wrong sill was used as a replacement.

(Sorry, someone had to say it... I just hope everything is PERFECT and FLAWLESS when you finally take delivery.)

Stohlen, I stopped by the Troy dealership just to check out your car myself. Good news - they got the paint mods you wanted done!!

Seriously, though. I did stop and take a look. The older sill is nicer, and will look even better in black. I have a MY16 conv. R, Polaris White on order and I might have them get me the older ones and paint them black to match the front skirt.

I think you've hit on the most likely explanation. The sill was damaged in transit, and the delays Stohlen experienced were due to the wait for a part to be delivered and fitted, but the wrong part was delivered and no-one picked it up.

That would be a decent explanation except that this was not the car he ordered.

This was a "substitute" located in a Florida dealer's stock, that was shipped to his dealer because he wisely gave up on the car he ordered, because no one is willing or able to tell him why it's been held for almost 2 months now.

Oh, I see - I'm so lost in the ups and downs of this saga that I didn't register that bit.

But I think there was also an unexplained delay in the replacement car showing up. I think.

Sort of yes. It just took a while to get shipped up here. Could be for any number of reasons. I'm not so worried about damage for the side skirt, this car was likely in the first 5 or 10 to go down the line at the plant and misbuilts at that point happen all the time. People aren't familiar with the process and screw up. If you look at the Red AWD car that was the first reveal with the Bloodhound world speed record car, that had MY15 side skirts, so they didn't even get to practice on the prototype units.

His original car was on the Hoegh Osaka?

Nice to see someone else in the area getting an F type! Luckily I got the older style sills for free! Jaguar of Troy has been great to me when the company hasn't so hopefully they are providing you with the same experience.

Right now, it's a very exclusive club in MI. I got my coupe back in October '15 and since the F-type came out in '14, I have only seen 2 others on the road in MI (and I travel the entire state). Both were convertibles.

I am in Highland, so sure to be seeing your White R darting down M-59 one day.

Congrats and enjoy... sounds like the folks at Elder Jag are taking care of you. They provide pretty good service. I got mine through their Novi location.

I've also only seen 2 F Types since 14. One green convertible in Auburn Hills and one silver V6S coupe with a manufacturers plate in Royal Oak. I'm in Waterford, so i'm sure you'll see me plenty if you run up and down 59 often.

I think the F-Type is a pretty exclusive club. My dealer tells me they sold 34 since they were released. (combination of all models) I have only ever saw 3 not including mine, unless I was at the dealer. I'd figure in Dallas Metro area I'd see more, but I'm glad I don't.

I'd imagine up north and in smaller towns there might only be 1 in the area!

I would have thought in Dallas you would see quite a few... it's a large exotic car market. Detroit area is a big US car market for obvious reasons. Corvettes are a dime a dozen here... besides the great looks, one of the reasons I chose the F-Type is because you don't see them on every corner.
