Default Lexus LC 500

Hoping to change from my F-Type Base Coupe later this year after having it 3 years.

Anyone cross-shopping the Lexus LC 500 with the F-Type Coupe?

Not a consideration for me. No MT. A 10 speed AT might be appealing to some.

No way, a big step down in the visual/sex appeal department for me.

Agreed. Virtually every Lexus model now incorporates these hideous, oversized, hourglass shaped grilles. Someone must really like the look, but for me, it has ruined the entire brand.

Every time I see that Lexus I think of either a crab or the unmasked Predator. Sorry, couldn't bring myself to drive one...

Less than 5% take rate for all manuals today, they are disapearing. I just saw my first Lexus and it is better in the flesh but front is controversial. So was Audi "horse collar" when it came out, not as extreme as Lexus but at the time it was. The Lexus was on tour and dealer says each gets at least one per month if they qualify by volume.

That ugly Predator grill just ruins it for me.

I have been looking at these. I've never liked Lexus. HOWEVER, the interior design and quality is outstanding, and better than anything at this price point. The exterior is debatable. The performance - well the V8 Jag is superior.

White the grille out, remove the extended v portion of the front headlights, and change the wheels to something less animated. The rest has some nice lines.

I suspect strongly that like all Lexus I've ever driven it will have a beautiful interior and be incredibly boring to drive. Also that rear is hideous. From what I'm reading it's intended to be a 6 series competitor. Seems very different from the F-Type.

No thanks

I have owned two Lexus sedans, very nice inside, they go well enough, very quiet and smooth, but otherwise rather boring. The good thing is they never break. It's perfect for my job related activities, which requires me to be boring, but I have to agree with most of you, the new grill is not attractive.

I recently decided it was time to replace my ES, and I will not be getting another Lexus. They are still good cars, so I would not talk anyone out of one, and other than the grille, the LC 500 is not a bad looking car, but time for me to move on.

1) I agree that the grill is very ugly which is too bad since the rest of the car is attractive. .....OTOH the F type is universally recognized as one of the nicest looking cars on the road.

2) I agree with the comment that they have a different focus; one is a sporty luxury car and the other is a premier sports GT. 471hp, 4300 lbs, 0-60 in 4.5......not exactly V8 F type territory.

3) .....I'm old so I can't get over the feeling that the Lexus is just an expensive Toyota.

I've owned three Lexuses. They're appliances. No soul, super boring. Very reliable.

Same here.

And Infiniti is a Datsun, Acura/Honda and so on. And of course, a 911 is VW bug.

+1 on the grill. I just can't stand that design and it's even worse on the larger models. The rest of the car has some merit in terms of style but having seen one up close I just can't bring myself to wanting one. It's too clinical to me. But that gril.......if I wanted to look like a Cylon I can think of a cheaper way to do it.

I dont mind the look of the grille. I quite like the RC350 but it has to be in black to hide all of the nobbly bits that stick out all over the place.

With the LC I like the grill but I hate the tears coming out of the headlights. Yes we know you are sad because you are a Toyota at heart, but you dont have to cry about it.

And worse are the dribbles coming from the tail lights making a face from the back. Domo arigato Mr Roboto.
