Long Read! *Dealer offering to buy back car*
Jaguar took my 2016 at 42K miles and bought me a 2019, allowing me to fully customize it. They didn't reduce the value of the 2016 regarding the miles driven. They just swapped out the 2016 and gave me a 2019 worth about $15K more. They even took photos of it on the line and being built! https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZXcNtzXto5kfuH4F8
I was *extremely patient* and probably overly nice about the whole ordeal. It was in the shop for an O2 sensor issue that impacted the engine and exhaust. A recall update on the O2 basically bricked my engine... probably 8 or 9 times over a year it was in the shop, and I didn't have the car a total of 3 months while they tried to hunt for, identify, and solve the problem. There was a stretch where I didn't have it for 30 days or so, so maybe that's why HQ was so kind. But again, I was overly patient. Also, they decided to do that within about a week of saying they would review my case. It was fully paid for, so they were super excited in that it makes the process far easier. I'm wondering how bizarre or rare my case is?
Maybe Jag knew my demographics being a bit younger in the mid-40s that they didn't want to burn a likely future devotee of the brand? But boy are they underwater on my case. I'm going to have driven an F-Type about 8 years under warranty by the end of this? I had the first one for 3 years, this will by 5 more. Sheesh.
