Long tube headers won't fit. VAP was able to fabricate some mid-length headers with 200 cell down-cats which resulted in a very loud, obnoxious and raspy sound on the V6, even with the stock muffler. Performance was enhanced by 4 or 5 horses at most. The project was abandoned. Perhaps it would have sounded better on the V8.

I have the 200 cell cats and VelocityAP valvetronic exhaust, the car sounds quiet at idle but plenty loud at 1k RPM.

Therefore, I'm hoping either VelocityAP or Veizu could develop a TCU tune that can raise the engine idle to 1k RPM in either Dynamic or Sports mode. This cannot be modded in the ECU, will have to be a TCU tune. I am aware that both of them have/had it on their agenda...

two very different things, one is a cat back the other is sport cats which will make the sound significantly louder then any car back can. However remember with quick silver you loose the valve function. I’ve heard Quicksilver in person and it sounds great, however I would definitely have to recommend to go with the velocity AP valve Tronic exhaust, just based on having the valve control to keep it quiet when you want.

The thread actually started as a V8 discussion. Those pesky V6 owners got into the middle of it as usual.

The V6 could use some rumble too but is probably even more of a challenge. I've heard one, one-off V6 with some idle rumble, it was a non-street legal Porsche racecar. It proves it can be done, but I'm sure it was a flat 6.

Maybe its the firing order or the need for matched long tube headers, but on the low end the F's V8 remains one of the most civilized I've heard outside of Toyota. IMO the stock exhaust does a perfect job once you get on it, and is not the reason our car runs so obnoxiously quiet.

Unhinged, you mentioned that velocity AP quad Valvetronic gives a deep note sound, have any idea if this will be the same for velocity AP Center pipes valvetronic exhaust? I understand that many V6 owners have swap from two Center pipes to quads; but I prefer to have the 2 Center pipe aftermarket exhaust (most probably from velocity Ap).

Another question is that did you change to cone filters as well or using stock? Although I noticed you did install Mina intake tube kit?

Lastly, did you changed your cats to 200 cell or keep it stock? I heard that changing 200cell cats will result in rasp noise in the exhaust note which I don’t favour. But is it necessary to have 200 cell cats together with crank pulley and tune to give power to 450 HP? I am thinking of just changing crank pulley, VAP tune and VAP muffler.

Appreciated if you can share your experience and recommendation with me.

1. I have never heard a VAP Valvetronic 2-pipe. I’m not certain even whether anyone in this forum has installed one.
2. Yes, I have the Mina intake tubes but kept the OEM filters. I don’t quite trust the more open design of the cone filters. They offer little performance benefit for boosted engines and most of the research I’ve seen show more particulates getting past them. They can enhance the SC whine, though.
3. The 450+ hp and 425+ tq numbers are with the OEM cats and air filters. 200 cell cats I don’t think are well suited for the V6, as they do indeed make the sound far too raspy. Maybe better suited for the V8.
