Default Metallic grinding sound when revving the engine

I have noticed a metallic grinding sound when I rev the engine on my 2015 V6S coupe above 2000 rpm. It is not the whine from the supercharger. It almost sounds like a dental drill. Any ideas as to the cause?

Can you get a recording of the sound for us? By your description it sounds like a bad bearing in one of the belt driven components ( alternator, supercharger, steering pump , etc.)

Likely this... I had an idler pulley make a similar sound on another car a few years ago. It was not consistent and hard to pin down.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I will try to get a recording on it but it is really only noticeable from inside the car. In any case, I will set up an appointment with the dealer to check it out. I will have the technician ride along with me to make sure he can hear it.

I took the car to the dealer and the technician notice the sound right away. They indicated that the noise was coming from the a/c compressor. Although it was working properly, it was replaced under warranty. Thankfully the sound has gone.

What do I win? LOL. .....and I'm sure that Jaguar doesn't make their own compressors.
