Michelin - Pilot Sport All Season 4 vs Michelin - Pilot Sport 4 S
Hi everyone,
I drive a 2015 F-Type S Coupe and I'm looking to replace my Toyo Proxes 4+ tires for everyday use. I live in Vancouver, BC, where the weather mostly involves rain and dry roads.
I'm trying to decide between all-season tires and sport tires. I'm leaning away from all-season tires because I'm concerned they might be too loud—I really value a quiet cabin. However, I'm wondering if sport tires would handle well enough in the rain, considering I don't plan on tracking or racing the car.
For context, the all-season tires are priced at $1,800 CAD, while the sport tires are $2,400 CAD.
Any advice or experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, this isnt a direct answer for you, but I live in a temperate climate (plenty of rain, plenty of heat, no snow). I had pilot supersports on for a few years and now (since early this year) have PS4's. The supersports are slightly more road focused than the PS4's, but to be honest while I noticed a huge comfort improvement going from P Zeros to the supersports and was expecting a drop in comfort going to the PS4's, the ride is only a tiny bit firmer, if at all. Grip is fantastic once the lubricant wears off and the rubber scuffs a little, the big fishtail exiting the tyre shop hasnt been repeated in the dry and the **** wiggles in the wet are only if you are inducing it. I dont think there is much road noise at all, on a smooth road they are almost silent.
I’m sure you’re aware that the PS4s are Summer tires. They’re quite slippery at 40F, dangerous at 30F, and can be damaged by any movement at 20F (don’t change tire pressure, move the car, etc.)
I can go all seasons, will they perform better than my proxes 4+ . How do the proxes compare to the sport for rain ?
I don't t I'd drive under 40 f ever. So maybe not much of a concern.

If you are thinking all season then there is only one choice, Continental DWS 06 Plus. Most tire manufacturers offer a satisfaction warranty. If in the first 30 days you don’t like the tires you can exchange them. Go talk to your local Discount Tire guy.
I had the PS A/S 4's on the F-Type and have the Conti A/S on the A7.
Conti's may be a bit quieter and softer.
Both handle great in the wet and cold.
Have not tried either in snow!!

I've had these for two years and they're great!
oh, I just don't want tire noise, since my tread is completely gone. I hear and feeling everything. I'm want to go sport, I think driving in rain should be fine, long as drive with caution. The proxes were summer tire no issues. I'm getting quote from jaguar today on the continental all season and the 2 Michelins.

I'll get a quote and see if they can match costco. If it's a small difference I'll just keep the rapport with the dealership

I'm a little late to the party, but I was comparing PS4Ss vs PSAS4s a few months ago. Short version is that most people recommended the PS4S, a few PSAS4s, and a few folks suggested the Conti DWS06+ instead of the PSAS4s. If you'd like, see the whole discussion at https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...s4-pnw-280919/
I chose the PSAS4s as personally experienced the grip drop-off you get with summer tires as they get colder and I wanted to feel free to drive the car in the spring and fall months, and I find them to be quieter and more comfortable than the stock Pirellis and nearly as sporty. All that said, the PS4Ss are a great choice, and you'll love them.
I purchased my tires from Costco and had them installed and am relatively pleased. I'm particular and noticed a scuff or two from where the tire bead slipped over the machined wheel face edge, but it's not any worse than any other tire installation I've ever had. They didn't align the car, nor do I believe they should have nor should they have needed to - replacing tires doesn't affect the alignment. They usually do a pretty good job of match-mounting the tires when applicable and honor my requests to hand torque and not stack or otherwise scratch the wheels, so they get points for all that.
You may take or leave all that, but regardless, enjoy the new treads!
