Default Navigation Connected Features

Does anyone know how the data for the navigation connected features is supplied? I don't use the navigation often and just gave it a try. There was no real time traffic or speed limit signs being displayed on the navigation screen while I used it. I have had both of those previously.

Those are provided by the cellular modem, provisioned by the SIM located in the center console. Usually that is accomplished through your InControl account, but you can purchase an aftermarket AT&T SIM (here in the US) or an equivalent GSM carrier that will work--as long as it has a data plan associated with it. If you had the services once and they no longer work, then either your account is expired/inactive, or since you have a 2018 you may have an older 3G SIM card which no longer works with the sunsetting of 3G last year. The dealer should be able to get you a 4G SIM (or again, go aftermarket) to get your services working again should you still have an active account.

Well that explains it I think. I still have the SIM installed that the car came with in 2018. I got a message at some point that I hit my data limit and never added more data. I do still have an active InControl account. Any idea how much a 4G SIM at the dealer would cost? Would I need a new data plan to go with it?

I can remotely lock and unlock the car through the app so I think the 4G in the car is working OK.

I’m paying $20/mo for AT&T 4G on my ‘18 XE, with the SIM card that it came with.

The app remote features and telematics are actually using a separate 2G modem in the car, which is still around (but also slated to go away eventually) which is why that may still work even if a 3G SIM doesn't. You can definitely purchase an AT&T SIM for about $20/month but if you have a shared plan through them you can usually add additional data only devices for $10/month.
