Default Need Help With SVR Wing Install

I sourced and purchased a used SVR coupe rear hatch with the wing and related assemblies intact. The shipment just arrived, and I dove in to remove the wing, cover and actuator -- but am a bit stuck and need some help.

The hatch door arrived with the wing in the closed position. In this position I have no access to the wing mounting screws to remove it from the base / actuator assembly. I was able to remove the screws for the cover plate from the hatch door, but it appears that the wing must be removed first in order for the cover plate to come off. As I can't remove the wing first, I am unable to remove the cover and access the actuator assembly.

I am at a standstill ...... any advice from the genius minds on this forum would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure one option (maybe my only option) would be to supply 12V to the actuator motor to extend the wing and access the mounting bolts ..... does anyone know which wiring harness plug / pin combo I would need to do that?

I'm confused. Why can't you juat take the 13 screws of the factory actuator and remove it. It's juat a plug and go part the new scr wing with just plug rhe new actuator in. The factory wing is just attached to the hing of the actuator

You can't get to the factory screws that secure the actuator until you remove the cover panel. In order to remove the cover panel, you need to remove the wing. When the wing is in its closed position, the screws for the wing are concealed so you can't remove it. If you can't remove the wing, you can't remove the cover plate. If you can't remove the cover plate you can't remove the actuator assembly. It's a clever assembly and prohibits theft of the wing when parked.

I was finally able to get the job done, though. I didn't care about anything from the rear hatch assembly except for the wing and its related parts, so I used a dremel on the interior side of the hatch and cut an access hole that allowed me to get to the wiring of the actuator. The key here is to get to the red and blue wire that goes to the motor. Once I had access to those 2 wires, I was able to juice them with a cordless drill battery and deploy the wing gaining necessary access to the screws to remove the wing.
Note: reversing polarity on those 2 wires will move the motor in the opposite direction, so if you juice without initial success, reverse the wires!
Pics to follow soon .....

This is why I just took all 3 pieces ( carbon wing, actuator, mounting panel) to jaguar.and paid them $150. Mine didn't come with the screws you were talking about that connects the wing. But the were just m6 5-20 so it wasn't a issue. But mine was also locked but I let them do it...The actuator screws from the factory to svr spoiler were interchangeable. The 4 that came woth factory are m6 5-25 so they were also interchangeable.

Here's a few pics of the process ....and results.

As the story begins, I received the shipment of the SVR hatch. The seller did a great job of packaging and shipping the hatch via FedEx Freight from FL to CA:

Shipment received! The fun begins .....

The hatch arrived with the wing in the closed position. In this position, the wing cannot be removed, causing the issue that started this thread.

The wing needed to be activated into the open position so that the wing mounting screws could be accessed, allowing removal of the wing. Here you can see the screws mounting the wing to the actuator arms that I am referring to. When the wing is removed the cover plate can come off, allowing further access to the actuator assembly underneath the cover plate.

I ended up cutting an access hole from the hatch interior so that I could get to these wires and apply 12V to the actuator motor, deploying the wing ..... note: the actuator motor can open or close the wing, depending on polarity of voltage applied to these 2 wires

Once the wing was deployed, the project could continue. After removing the wing, I was able to remove the cover plate and then unscrew and remove the actuator assembly ....

And from that point on, everything was plug and play. Here is a "soft fitting" of the wing.

After the soft fitting, parts will be removed and sent to the painter. I'm still debating if I should paint the lower wind deflector or not (I kinda dig it in black) ......

It was a fun project and I think I'm really going to enjoy the finished product. Best of all, I saved a TON of $ by finding this wing at a used auto parts business!

Now your down tge carbin fiber rabbit hole. Get the Carbon Diffuser that matches your oem spoiler, you won't regret it .I got the diffuser first rhen it took me a year to find the 3 piece spoiler assebly.. then you can always add the carbon fiber side skirts...I liked rhe gloss black better..so I passed on that piece. My car is white the the carbon really makes its presence known. Before you know it you will have 15k in carbon ...lol
