Default Need help unlocking passenger door !!

I have been doing some work inside the cabin of my F today, and was needing to keep the passenger door open for a while. With all the talk about the finicky battery, I got concerned about running the battery down, So I thought I'd try to outsmart the car. I moved the lever at the end of the door into what I assume is the locked door position . The pic demonstrates the position it is in currently. In this position the door will not close and properly engage as the lever prevents full closure. I had thought that I could merely then unlock the door using the key fob or the unlock button in the cabin to get me back where I started. Wrong! I am unable to get that lever to move into the position that allows closing of the door. Hoping someone can help.

Thanks.

Fully unlock the car. Get a screwdriver or sturdy pencil, put it into hole inside the latch, then move it outwards. The latch looks like hook, and will move out and up.

I am able to rotate it some towards a more locked position but not the other direction. Ugh!

would you mind elaborating on exactly where I place the forces?

When you do that, pulling the door handle (the one on the inside of door) un-does it.
