Default new to the club

Hello,

Just picked of a 2015 Dark Sapphire Metallic coupe R with 27k miles on it. Picked it up Friday evening north of Seattle and made it home to DFW on Sunday. I think I am now nominated for husband of the year since I left on valentines day. LOL Rain, snow, and sleet on the way home. Here are a few pics of the car. All cleaned up again in the garage sitting under the cover. Looking forward to the ride.

Welcome, kjmj. That's a beautiful F-Type. Congrats on your purchase. I'm another DFW F-Type owner who travelled to (just south of) Seattle last year to buy my F-Type. Good on you for driving it all the way back to Texas.

Welcome and what a beautiful example! Love this colour and contrasting chrome and silver wheels. Sometimes I wonder if I should go for an aftermarket black pack and recoat the wheels in black but then I think it would hide too much of the car's stunning design.

Best of luck.

The black wheels are certainly something I am thinking about. Powder coating is pretty reasonable.

Nice to have another FTR in DFW. Congrats!

FWIW, I think the black pack looks best on light-colored cars and the chrome/silver trim/wheels look best on dark ones. If you do decide to powdercoat your wheels and need a recommendation, hit me up.

I certainly appreciate that. Still
up in the air on if I want to or not. Couple of people I know have used a guy in the Krum area and have nothing but positive things to say. Might hit ya up a drive though.

Default It's your car...

but I would leave the silver/chrome trim and accents with that gorgeous blue! Wow! I had a 2015 C7 in Night Race Blue, but it wasn't as gorgeous as this blue.

Making the trim and wheels black would just get 'lost' against the blue. IMO

and BTW, the underside is pristine! was it kept in a bag? :-)

I really like the silver wheels and chrome trim accents with the Sapphire paint. I agree with Valerie that the black accents would get lost against the blue paint. The wife and I had a Sapphire Metallic '98 XK8. As much as I like the Italian Racing Red on my F-Type, Sapphire is my favorite Jaguar color.

I recently had Unit F14 Powder Coating in Plano strip and powder coat the rear calipers on my F-Type. They did a very nice job. They might be worth a look if you do decide to change the color of your wheels.

Beautiful! Congratulations. Should be reliable. Do a bit of research on y-pipes and the rear differential. The R's benefit from a diff fluid change as preventative maintainence.

Thanks. Had an XF so familiar with the cooling pipes. Ouch. Ill check/change the diff fluid soon.

LOL. Yeah, the car was taken care of really well. I’ll probably live with the wheels for a while. They are starting to grow on me. Even if I do go with black wheels I’ll keep the chrome accents.

I have chrome accents on my Italian Racing Red F-Type. I recently changed the wheels and went with a brushed Titanium finish on the new wheels. The finish is definitely darker than the chrome and OEM silver wheels, but it's still light enough to stand out.

Beautiful car, and welcome!

I’ll echo what the other folks have said. IMO silver looks brilliant with your royal blue, and Black trim/wheels would get lost in the shuffle.

Welcome! Brave of you to make such a maiden journey in such road conditions in an RWD R on what I presume are summer tires.

I have never been accused of being smart. lol. It wasn’t to bad. Got to see some beautiful parts of the country. The new PS4 tires held up fine. I didn’t drive crazy or anything. The worst part was the 32 hours of driving. The sound track of the exhaust did help to pass the time though. I don’t think I could sit in my EZ chair that long without something hurting.

Yikes. In case you’re not aware, this is for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S…

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

Thanks. I guess I should have clarified. They were already on the car. They had around 1k miles on them.
