New key programmed. Now car starts without the key!!
Went a couple of weeks ago to a local locksmith to get a spare key and programmed for my F-Type. Found out by accident yesterday that I now no longer need my key to start the vehicle. Just get in and press the start key even with the doors locked. I'm guessing they messed something up with the vehicles programming. Anyone else experienced or heard of this happening?
The key fob was five miles away when I discovered the issue. I’d picked up my other vehicle keys when I left the house by accident. I was shocked and relieved when I pressed the start button and it fired up.
If its locked i'll need the key fob to unlock the vehicle to get in. But if the roof is down and the doors are locked I could jump in and drive it away. Should be an interesting call to the locksmith tomorrow morning.

If that were true wouldn't the car complain when you tried to lock it?
Went to locksmith today. Apparently there are 2 ways to add a key to the car’s computer. You can either select add or delete all keys then add all keys. They’d just added a key to mine and something made the computer just allow the local proximity sensor which controls the start function to be over ridden so that a key was not even needed. They deleted all keys, re added my original key which programmed properly and the proximity function to work. The new key would lock unlock the doors but the start sensor would not recognise it. So they are getting another key fob sent to see if that fixes the issue. I will update again when the new fob gets programmed.
