Default New Member - F-Type R

Hey everyone. New the the forum. I did some searching and found nothing so my apologies in advance if these questions have been asked.

I am on the hunt for a F-Type R (for whatever reason I feel compelled to type "love everything about it")...

I come from the AMG world and have had a few E55's with the 5.4L Supercharged Engine and did extensive modifications to one of the cars. Like many s/c cars the platforms Achilles heel was heat soak. My plan is to try to upgrade the performance on the F-Type.

A few questions:
- Has anyone run water/meth injection?
- Has anyone run a bigger reservoir (water/ice tank)?
- Has anyone deleted the primary and secondary catalytic converters (versus adding headers or long tube headers)?
- Depending on upgraded pulley size are there any needs for bigger fuel injectors?

A bit of context on the questions; the water/meth and bigger reservoir (ice tank) are all tied to keeping IAT's (Intake Air Temps) as low as possible. My thought is only to run water/meth to keep the car cool versus try to get more HP.

Most folks know that when IAT's go up the car pulls timing (AFR goes down) and the car effectively gets slower. In layman's terms (E55 example) it was common for guys with big pulleys, etc. to have a car that made (for example) 500 RWHP in 1st gear, 2nd gear would make 450 RWHP, 3rd gear would make 375 RWHP, and 4th gear 350 RWHP. The heat killed the cars performance and they were better off leaving it stock. In the above example a properly cooled the car would make 500 RWHP in all gears/speeds. The best visual of this was a race between a stage 4 E55 and a stock M6 (see video). The E55 left the M6 parked from a 30 MPH roll and the M6 pulled on it and went around it on top end as the E55 got hot.

Thanks in advance on the questions and its a pleasure to make everyones virtual acquaintance.

Tim

The heat is also a substantial issue on F-type. Many here tuned their cars, pulleys... the works. Nobody upgraded cooling.

I take my car to the track but left it stock. I am already at thermal limit on a hot day, why pay good money to hit it sooner?

There isn't much of aftermarket scene for F-types. As such, you will be doing full custom work on everything you do. However, F-type is actually balanced as-is. It has enough everything, and not too much of anything for it to become an issue. I have no complaints tracking mine - everything works as it should for 2 hour sessions I do. So someone at JLR knew what they were doing. Unlike, say C7 Z06 that melts into pits to cool down every few laps.

Looks like the Merc jumped the rolling start, to me. He got on the gas before the cones and well before the M6.

The big upgrades are pulley, ECU, exhaust. After that, it gets to be more custom.

What about an SVR vs the R for a few more horses? Some suspension, exhaust and other improvements too.
Carbon ceramic brakes good if you are tracking
