Default New Meridian problem? Repeating radio radio

I awakened my nearly new (<1000 mi) Ftype R from it's winter slumber and took it for its first longish drive today to the Blue Ridge Parkway, fantastic!! However, the radio developed a glitch I have never before heard. The sound began to intermittently repeat about a second of audio, initially every couple minutes, then increasing in frequency to several times a minute. It is most noticeable with speech; a couple words will repeat themselves repeat themselves in the middle of a sentence, then the talk will go on normally until it happens again happens again. Turning the system off and on again had no effect. It became so distracting I had to leave the radio off. WTF? This is just a radio, right? Signal in, through the electronics, out to the speakers? I am utterly ignorant of how audio circuits work, but what in there could do this? Has anyone else heard of this or had it happen? I might just have to take another drive tomorrow to see if it recurs.

I've seen this before - it is the radio switching between the HD radio signal and the normal fm signal. the two are slightly out of sync and the repeat you are hearing is as it switches between the two channels. Quick fix is to disable HD radio because you seem to be in a poor reception area.

+1. Have seen it in two other cars with HD radios in areas where HD reception is borderline. It's not a Meridian problem.

You can disable HD in the audio settings on the 770 watt system. Not sure if you have that option on your 380 watt setup.

Yes, you can, if you purchased the $450 HD/Sirius radio option.

If you didn't have the HD radio option, then you wouldn't experience the issue described here and would not have the need to disable the HD radio
