Default New Owner with couple of issues

Been monitoring the forum for a while and just picked up my R last week. Picture is attached ( hopefully it came through)

Question :

I seem to have puddles of black condensation leaking from under the car where the exhaust joints are clamped together. I was told this is normal ?

Also there is no ambient lighting by the foot wells, only the door panels. Is it not working or is there just no lighting there.

Other than that the car is amazing!!

Is the black melting cosmoline from the exhaust heat? Some manufacturers spray their cars prior to shipping to protect from salt/debris damage while in transit, that stuff is hard to get off perhaps melting off exhaust?

Footwell lighting is an option in Porsche- didn't see it on the jag list

The black puddles are most likely a combination of water from condensation mixed with the soot from the exhaust. The popping & crackling that the F-type makes is created by injecting extra fuel into the system, which creates a lot of soot. The R exhaust tips are angled up so water drains backwards and empties behind the tips.

The footwells light up when the interior lights are on, but there is no ambient lighting in the footwells.

Exactly, I had spots in my garage which I thought was Trans fluid or something but it felt more like soot. I took it back to the dealer and they showed me it was condensation and soot draining from behind the tips.

Although I was relieved, it still is kind of mess on the garage floor.

Thanks for the responses, I now keep a roll of paper towels handy in my garage....

You need to get the exhaust up to a higher temperature by driving it like you stole it!

Yes. The geometry of the exhausts (downward facing) means that there has to be additional gravity-fed drainage for condensation towards the low point of the exhaust.

Those storm wheels are IMO the best match for the Polaris.... Looks terrific!

I have a few issues as well with my R coupe ...

1. Climate control temp is not accurate. I live in the Northeast, and it's cold right now. I have my temperature set at 75°, but the car is still pretty chilly when I drive it. Sometimes it gets warm, but then I find that it's blowing cold air out of the vents.

2. My brother pushed back the passenger seat all the way back, and I think he popped the clip for the rear panel. It's much looser now causing speaker buzzing that does not exist on the driver side.

Anybody have these problems?

Can't help you on the panel issue since I have a convertible. However, you should have your climate control system checked. It's cold now in Maryland, and in my car 72º on "auto" is too hot for me. I usually keep it at 70º.
