I get the feeling that Pirelli is almost a four-letter word around here.

Yeah - "tire" (or "tyre" if you're British).

No personal experience, but they did well on a test I just read:

They didn't just do well, they pooped it in!
I wonder about the Michelins though, throughout the test they refer to them as the Pilot Sport 4 and never once as the 4S.
We all know the 4S is head and shoulders about the "plain" 4 so maybe if they really did test just the 4 and not the 4S had they tested the 4S instead the results may have been a bit different.

Edit - on the same Auto Bild site a video of the 4 vs the 4S vs the Cup 2:
He concludes that the gap between the 4 and the 4S is not as large as he and most others thought.

There is a good reason for that - OEM Pirelli tires are complete **** for performance driving. However, I am glad Pirelli exists as I don't want Michelin to rest on laurels.

Great test & thanks for posting. Well I just bought a pair of PZ4’s for the rears. I went 305/30/20. I didn’t buy the fronts because they are almost new with 90% tread life left. Does anyone think I’ll have any issues with the fronts being regular P Zeros & the rears being PZ4’s?

No. Just adjust your driving to handle the resulting very subtle understeer when pushing hard through a turn.
