New South Australia Law
I was wondering if any of the members of this forum are from the province of South Australia and, if so, what are your thoughts on this new law and how or whether it will affect you.
Google says…
Are you referring to one of these, or something car-related?
Some new laws in South Australia include:
- Single-use plastics: In March 2022, the sale, supply, and distribution of single-use plastic straws, cutlery, and stirrers was prohibited. In September 2023, expanded polystyrene cups, bowls, plates, and clamshell containers were also prohibited.
- Tobacco and vaping products: New laws will include:
- Tougher penalties for the sale of illegal vapes and tobacco
- A ban on the sale of tobacco products in vending machines in public areas
- A ban on the supply of therapeutic e-cigarettes to anyone under 18
- A five-meter buffer zone around smoke-free areas at covered public transport areas
- Coercive control: Legislation has been introduced to criminalize coercive control, a type of domestic violence where an abuser controls a victim's behavior.
- Social media: A proposed law would impose a “duty of care” on social media companies to prevent children under 14 from accessing their platforms.
- Conversion practices: A new law has been passed to ban conversion practices.
- Knife crime: The government has announced measures to crack down on knife crime.

Agreed, although in Australia the biggest dangers come from people texting while driving, and ice affected drivers driving shitboxes

Yep, I remember reading about this a few months ago, so I checked whether my 450 hp F-Type was affected and it wasn't even close, phew!
Just more of the incessant "speed kills" BS from our pollies and bureaucrats, the local newspaper (Adelaide Advertiser) has been running a so-called road safety campaign for the past few weeks and it's constant theme is "speed kills".
At least it should be a relatively easy and painless exercise to get one of these UHPV licences, just a simple on-line test, see here:

This law came in because of this douche bag
His lawyers got him off. I feel so sorry for the victim and her family.
He was seen repeatedly doing almost burnout type accelerations in metropolitan streets the morning of the accident.
Said he was doing 53 km/hr when he lost control and spun out and couldn’t be proven he wasn’t
