Hello all. I joined a month ago after we purchased our first Jaguar. Its a 2014 Convertible S V8. Fully stock, not tuned. The car was in my brother-in-laws family since 2016 so at least since then I know it was very well cared for. It currently has about 18k and over the weekend an alert that said service was required in 800 miles. I was hoping someone in the area would have a recommendation for a good service shop in St. Louis. The car has gone to Plaza in Creve Coeur for an annual oil change the last 3 years (prior in TX) but was hoping to find a trusted independent shop in STL.
On another topic. I am also going to need new tires sometime soon. How do others like Pirelli vs Michelin? From what I read the Michelin are preferred by some in all-weather climates. Also sorry for the mega picture, need to figure out how to scale that down. factory black with matte wrap
We have a new dealership, JLR Chesterfield, which is the same family that owns Imperial up in Chicago. You are going to want to go there vs ANY Asbury Automotive Group dealership (Plaza).
You can also check out LPS Motorwerks in St Peters and Autos of Europe in Manchester. Both shops have good techs and the owners are dealership level master mechanics, Bentley at LPS and BMW at AoE.
As far as tire stores go, we are finally getting Discount Tire Stores. The first store is in St Peters but they are building 9 or 10 of them throughout the STL market. They are far superior to the local Dobbs and Plaza tires stores.
The big question on tires starts with - Will you be driving it in the winter? The best route is to run Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's above 40 degrees and almost anything else below 40 degrees. We run Bridgestone RE980's in the winter and they've been great BUT we have AWD and don't really go out if there's a chance of high centering or if it's icy. Some folks on this forum are running the new PS All-season 4's and we will probably switch to those for winters next time. If it were me, and I had your car with RWD, I'd run Pirelli performance snow's below 40 degree.
Hi and congrats on the new to you car! The wrap process is really interesting and I've never seen a matte/satin finish before so thank you for posting the photo. I think you have to "edit' your photo on the device that you took the photo with and then resave it as a new photo before you upload. The upload process just takes whatever photo you have selected and brings it up to the website. However, there may be other workarounds and I'm sure there will be other suggestions.
I live near Oshkosh Wisconsin and only store my F during the coldest and snowiest months... November through March or so, but it does get down in the 30s before that. There were Pirellis on the car when I bought it, a 2017 V6 premium coupe. My local dealer tech advised me that the tires were about gone (24,000 miles) They were Summer onlys, probably because the first owner lived in SC. We have a 2018 Corvette and that came from the factory with Summer Only Michelin PIlot run flats as did our 2015. Before leaving the dealer, we had them swap out those SOs for the Michelin Pilot RunFlats All season radials. Summer onlys get kinda dicey in 30-40 degree weather and one of the scariest videos I saw was a parked F sliding across a sloped parking lot that was iced over.
I researched All season radials for the 2017 F and read all the tire posts here. I opted for the Continental Extreme Contact DWS (DRY WET SNOW) I have Contis on my VW and really like them. I have not been disappointed. I don't track this car, but the tires are great road tires, quiet and provide good handling. The biggest test was being caught in a downpour outside of Milwaukee WI last fall. While other cars were pulled off to the side, I did not want to get mashed up in some big crash so kept on going. I was also concerned about the possiblity of hail and wanted to be out of that weather ASAP. Those Contis did their job, stuck to the road and got me out of there. You will get many replies on tires... you can do a search on the forum for Tires and enjoy reading all the posts. I got a matching price on the tires from my dealer, had them put them on along with Road Force balancing.

If you have a PC you can download a free copy of GIMP and do a "scale image" on it (I generally use 2000 pixels on the long side and the program works out the other dimension) and save it for upload.
