Default "Free" Maintenances: what does it include?

Hi,

i'm looking at XF S Sportbrakes as they are deeply discounted...

New Jaguars include "free maintenance" for the first 5 yr/60K miles, but what is actually included? could not find a definitive answer online.

Just fluid changes? oil, brake and transmission( and how much those run?). Obviously not tires and brakes. And is the maintenance contract only valid to the first owner or is it transferred to subsequent owners? (and with CPOs does it extend to the 7 years/100K...i doubt it)

Thanks

Welcome to the forums adb1980,

It should be everything on the Maintenance Schedule without the Invoice at the end.

Here is the 2010 XF 5.0 litre Maintenance Schedule as an example:

Included are all remedial maintenance and fluid and filter changes. Transmission fluid isn't scheduled for 10 years 100K miles (?). Wear items like brakes and tires not included. I'm coming up on my third service and haven't spent a penny. Yes transferable to new owners. My warranty repair claims have been so minor not even worth mentioning. If you read the forums you'll find the X260 is extremely reliable mechanically.

Default Newbie Jag ownner

Hello everyone so we just purchased a used 2016 Jaguar XFR Sport 3.5T with 27,000 miles did not get it from a jaguar dealership . My closet service center is 4.5 hours away.
Now i am wondering on the oil for this car iv been told using Pennzoil 0-20 full synthetic is the way to go and what Jag recommends and uses and that coming from a service advisor from the closest service shop. I did question him and say i heard all it was able to use to stay in warrenty was Castrol Edge pro 0-20 he said now the pennzoil was just fine.
Is this true? Now my second question is should i just change it on my own or drive 4.5hrs to get it serviced to stay with in warrenty. By the way purchased car from Carmax and they said the 5 yr 60k warrenty carried over

It's my understanding that by law doing your own maintenance cannot void your warranty unless the manufacturer can prove you did something wrong and it led to the failure. Like using the wrong oil. Use oil with the SAE number and a genuine Jaguar filter and you should be OK. I would call the dealer, ask for the service manager, and tell him your dilemma and ask their advice. Will the parts department ship you the filter (and maybe the oil)? What's an approved oil I can buy locally? A full day of just driving to get an oil change not counting the wait time to have it done is too much.
