Default New Wheels are Mounted

My new rotary forged wheels are here and on.
Crappy weather and lighting, but I couldn't wait to post at least something.....
20x10.5, 28et, 63.4 bore, 5x108 Rear (24.5lbs)
20x9, 45et, 63.4 bore, 5x108 Front (23.5lbs)
I will weigh the Gyrodynes when I get them back to the garage....

I went with moving all four wheels out 10mm over stock, and will buy 10mm wider tires this Summer when these wear out. That will give me the 15mm out look that this forum seemed to support as the "optimum"

Those look fantastic! I'd love to see some closeups showing the wheel detail and also some fender/wheel shots showing how those offsets worked out.

PM coming your way for other details.

No one here talk about the blade wheels I have on mine. I still think they are the best looking wheels I have seen for the F.

I think those look great with IRR. Your 2nd picture looks like Salsa.

Looks badass!

What did the weight difference end up being between these new ones and your OEM setup?

Good question, and the answer is combined w/ another thread on Gyrodyne (G) wheel weights. The OEM Gs weigh 32 and 34, front and back. These weigh 22 and 24 according to the manufacturer.

Shedding 40 lbs. of unsprung weight is significant.

^^ahhh, thanks!

Yes, agreed, 40lbs is pretty solid and I'm guessing these were a fair bit cheaper than the $8000 ese carbon fiber wheels

With an 80 lb savings, $8k doesn't look too bad. At $6k, I'd bite. I'd bet those forged wheels aren't much cheaper than that.

The OP's wheels are "rotary forged" which is a hybrid process with some casting involved. They are under $2K and save 10 lbs. per wheel over the OEM 20" Gyrodynes.

They also offer fully forged wheels for under $3K, which should be even lighter. I called them yesterday and left a message, but they didn't return my call.
